Since I'm sharing from mobile I don't think this'll load properly, but my buddy Sam and I had fun earlier tonight at a very small pre-Bug In cruise here in Denver, his little STF motor'd white bug is an absolute blast! Unrelated, it turns out MH drag radials don't have much grip in the rain  Wink

A couple of shots that my dad caught of myself and my friend Sam, respectively, launching at the CO Bug In this past Sunday. No wheels off the ground just yet, but we're both getting there for sure!

Nice pics! I was pretty happy with how the white bug performed, all things considered.

I've meant to put this shot up from the CO Bug In this year, at the end of the day, sweaty and tired after going very low 15s all day in my dorky VW Service jumpsuit.

P.S. Hopefully the pic makes it through, my image hosting site decided to change things up a bit and doesn't have a forum specific script.

My bug and I had a rather eventful Friday night at the racetrack, getting it into the 14s for the first time was one of the more minor bits of insanity that happened. I'll type up the whole story later today but for now here's my bug's first ever 14 second time slip!

Plus yesterday we met up with some friends at a local brewery, the blue car should be fairly well known around here...

Thanks! I've been hoping I'd see that time slip for a while now, it's still kind of hard to believe that it actually happened!

This will get me in trouble but, "ignoring the white Elephant in the room," if the camera was aimed at the 914, and the Speedster was caught in the back ground would anyone here address it?
Or should the emphasis be on four bolt pattern wheels and possibly a motor from the 914-6?

They are 5 lug "gasburner"wheels on 914 which is why I would want them, neither of the cars do anything for me, never understood the love for speedsters, think they are ugly, much prefer a early 356 coupe, so while someone "finding" those 2 cars in an old building might be cool this is a VW cal look forum not a Porsche forum so to me they are both just potential parts cars for a Hot VW Wink

cheers Richie

My buddy Sam and I took our '67s on a cruise with some other VW folks yesterday to go up into the hills and see the aspens changing, my car hadn't been up here with this motor, and Sam's blue car has never been up here in the 30 odd years he's owned it. That blue in the high-altitude light is not something I'll soon forget. I was mostly just happy that my car made it up without any real issues, and made it back down in record time too! These shots are in the parking lot of the famous Coney Island hotdog stand, just outside of Bailey, CO. I can't imagine many 14 second bugs have been driven through there over the years...

Understood.
But this picture was posted on a VW Cal look forum in the first place. So focus only on wheels. Might want to sell off the Speedster and buy what ever wheels you prefer?
Regards.

What an awesome shot! The Lee Leighton Oval is my favorite of the real old-school cars, it really epitomizes the saying "looks fast while standing still"
