Hi I was told a while back about engine lid standoffs that you can close and open. They were made in Germany by a company called cagero but they don't seem to be arou d anymore. There is a cagero VW in Germany but they are not the same company. Does anyone know where I can get a pair for my 63 bug?
Cheers. Wayne.

Not sure about that, but I think Wolfgang International has a prop type device that can be utilized for standard decklid standoffs? They're based in Redding, Calif.

Thanks dude. I don't think it sounds like the same thing. What I'm on about the standoffs actually move in and out ar the top so looks like a standard engine lid then adjust and engine lid open at the top with stand offs. Thanks for replying.

Wolfgang made (makes?) an extension for the spring to mount. It's crap.

Cheer for the link mate. I'd found that link a while ago but the cagero link to the site is now dead. I wish I'd bought a pair last year. Alas I think the company may have gone bust.

I can't see how they work, how do you open and close the lid at the top?

It's probably my crap description sorry about that. The lid doesn't actually open fully at the top. What happens is it opens as far as a stand off would but then it can close back shut as if it had standard hinges on. Giving you options to have it open on a run for cooling or shut when you park up. Kind of pointless piece of innovation but I really like the idea of them as I like the cooling but don't personally like the lines stand offs give to the rear of my car.
There are a few guys in the UK I know are running them so I thought I'd give them a shot.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers
Wayne.

-yep, Heydon has a set. Alex Thorne (Mighty White) also has them. One of them may chip-in shortly.. They are very well engineered -almost too well as its quite difficult to open and close smoothly BUT they do do what they claim... (Not cheap though)

Yep just had an email back from the company. 299 Swiss francs + 30 for shipping which works out at £235. I'm still gonna get a pair.

Hi
No pics to hand.
Looks like a stock lid or one with stand offs... Nothing different
You have to open the deck lid, then pull it towards you to stand off or push towards the car to stand down, the open and close as normal. The hinges slide and when stood off you insert a metal insert to stop them sliding closed next time you open it.
When stood off, mine needs to finger of pressure to ensure clearance at the top edge when closing.

Funky Just close it slowly the first time with tape on the paint edges when fitting. and if it does slightly catch- lock your decklid each time to stop others banging it.
