Well after many years of patience I have purchased a set of 4 original BRMs. Hopefully they should be on my door step by this time next week (or sooner I hope ) I'm personally interested in what additional hardware I need to mount these to my Beetle. What helps maintain the wheels/polish. Any help is appreciated. I would like to see this topic explode with info and pics regarding Original BRMS, anything and everything goes....

I have 4 genuine lug inserts and no genuine wheels. They are just sitting on a shelf waiting for someone in need.

What helps maintain the wheels/polish. A lot of spare time, Mothers mag polish and finger tips that don't wear out. Oh, and after that, lot of spare time, Mothers mag polish and finger tips that don't wear out. They are like owning the Golden Gate or Fourth Bridge. By the time you have finished polishing it's time to start again. Welcome to purgatory - it's a place between heaven and hell. Still, original BRMs are worth the black finger tips in my opinion.

Cool wheels. IMHO I have to agree with the statement Sarge made. There is more to life than a can of Braso. While your polishing your...wheels, I will be out driving mine. I would leave them grey so everyone knows they are the real things. Oh, and welcome to the forum Don. For those that don't know, Don Bulitta has a very nice, and well traveled, '66. --louis

I haven't polished my BRMs for ages, they get a once-over once a year if they aren't naughty. I would love that better than chrome Magnesium shine, but I am just beyond being able to allocate that amount of time to the quest - especially while there are still places that sell beer left on this planet. If I could locate the place where you go to employ really cheap labor, I'd have my very own full-time Berm Polisher, and he'd have on of those shirts with a name patch on. I wouldn't even beat him or anything like that; He'd have job satisfaction, I'd have gleaming Berms. Everyone'd be happy.

Very cool, Chris. I thought you were only buying one wheel. When do you pick them up?

You running T-bars now Ivan?? Looking good.
Congrats with your new wheels Slingy. I have a set of four BRMs myself. I like them better when they are dull, or maybe I'm just lacy lol. The best polish I have found is the one made by snap-on. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=15087&group_ID=1886&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog Not cheap, but works like a dream!!

DONNY B - YOU HAVE PM. Luke I can't belive I bought all four, but I figure I will be into the Cal Look For Life, and BRMs are not getting easier to find or cheaper. And the price was right (as far as BRMs go). I just can't wait to get the Single Cab on the road so I can move on to the 67' , It's going to look damn mean, can't wait

If I can test drive the car, post polish....you have a deal. I even have my own "Jim" patch.
I wouldn't mind at all Jim - I'm not the precious about the car that I don't let people drive it. Mi kafer, su kafer! Trouble is it'd have to be the next time you're in the UK and you'd have to get grip with driving in what would be your passenger seat and shifting gears with your left hand. Ask Bill Schwimmer what it's like - he'll tell you as he's driven my car already. The first time you try a RHD after a life of LHD - you try and find a shifter on the door panel - it's weird but fun.

On my magnesium Americans, I use some 0000 steel wool and Mothers polish. Makes quick work of a mildly tarnished wheel.

So let me get this straight, The longer part of the stud threads into the stock drum, and the shorter part of the stud, is the lugnut end. So you tighten your lugs by threading them left? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Please correct me if i'm wrong. The short threads 12mm screws into the drum, the longer 14mm goes thru the wheel insert to unite with a lugnut
