Hi guys,

I heard that the car was for sale and contacted the owner.  Asked for price and as I have a spare engine asked if he would agree to sell it without the engine.

I did not get a clear reply. He just replied "many interested people, make a bid and higher gets it, car is for sale complete"

Hard to deal with this type of answers..

So definitely had a bad feeling about the seller.

Suddendly one night, i received a SMS "you're a bummer"... Really good commercial skills..

Phil

So... it's sold?  Huh
Hopefully the new owner will "restore" it in is former glory.  I want to see the FA-Q sign again!  Wink

That car was a monument, nobody should had or will have the moral right to change a single bolt on it, anyone did it is a real asshole!! Hope Super Shit Box will be back in right hands of a good guy that will restore it as Marks pects, including writes and everything as he left. That's incredible how stupid humans could be, why they don't build another car on their own instead fo wreck SSB!!!

If it shouldn't have been changed, it shouldn't have been sold.

Thanks for saying what I wanted to say, but was hesitant to do so.  "Cum Shot Express," some al-Qaida reference and pornography links stenciled on a car are in extreme poor taste, IMO, and do nothing to honor Mark's member or maintain the legacy of the SSB.  But Zach also makes a good point; once a car changes ownership, it's all up to the new owner(s), regardless of how tacky changes may be perceived by others.

Same here car should have been left as Mark had it, also did not like the writing on it (yes I know it was easy to wash off)  Mark offered the car to me, but I was doing my gold car at the time, which Mark build the motor for so said no. I really wanted it this time round as I feel the car needs to be put back right. But what he is asking for it it is just not worth it, as I'm not sure all of the right parts are there. I know what work when into that car, trans and motor.

If someone buys it please put it back right and look after it.

What is a tirequicker??

Whoever buys the car, I just hope they respect the car and the history.  The new owner deserves no respect at all.  As my friends from England say "he is a bell end".

He means tire kicker, someone who wastes time just looking at the car walking round and kicking its tires and doesn't have any real interest in buying it.

I loved that car and loved Mark.
I am in despair over what has become of it.
It reminds me of the story of George Washington's hatchet.
"We have replaced the blade once and the handle twice, but it is all original".
What is left of the original car ?
The subsequent owners since Mark have only desecrated the car and in their greed, demand higher and higher prices while removing the important pieces as trophies for themselves.

What a shame, its a difficult topic, as i don't believe some parties fully understand the sentiment in the car particularly in the u.s, if the car was purchased and just run hard like it always has been, it would have been left as a fitting tribute, but it has since been dare i say (desecrated) and now becomes a poison chalice for anyone who ( if the vendor actually wants to sell) buys it.
Its fair to say ive done some stupid stuff with cars over the years but if i had the chance/money to buy it, i would put it back (where possible) exactly the way it was when it last turned a wheel in anger in Marks hands.

I remember very well, when i saw the real SSB the first time. it was in 2005 in fribourg / Switzerland before we started the #11 Cruise Night...
I think this was the begin that i needed more power in my bug...

Hated all the white writing on it before with the last owner, very tacky and disrespectful in my opinion, it was ruined then and just continues to be ruined further as time goes on. This car should have been preserved as its such a part of VW racing history. Its always the same when a legendary car is sold, we just have to come to terms with the fact this car will never be what it once was, even if it does get put back as best as possible its not the same, its legacy is over.
