Mallory 6AL box trouble shooting

Hi folks.
I have been installing (or trying to) my mallory6AL box today but have some trouble with this thing.
All wires should be correct mounted, big Black to minus on car, big read to plus on starter I know it says battery +/- but should this be an issue?), orange to plus on coil, Black to minus on coil, thin read to ignition plus. In the manual it says that the White one should not be used, is that correct?
Anyway the only thing im not sure about is how to connect the purple and the green wire to the Distributor, cause its an older mallory distrubutor (it has offcourse an ignitor in it, but not a unilite ignitor though, should that be a problem?) I have tried both combinations regarding the purple and the green wire.
Engine starts but only runs for 3 seconds, then stops.
On the plate on the box it says that nr. 2 should be turned "ON" to be able to use it on a 4 cylinder engine, but in the manual it also says that nr 1 should be turned "ON" (there are 4 buttens to turn on and off in total, button nr. 4 is Sealed though) Anyway I have tried all combinations except for the nr. 4 that are Sealed.
Best result I can get is that engine cranks and starts and runs on all cylinders, but only for a few seconds.
Has any one in here actually been mounting one of these boxes and could anyone point me in the direction of what to try next?
I should point out that the engine runs normally without the box installed.
Below is figure I have used.
Regards, Jakob

If I remember correctly, purple and green wire are supposed to be used with a magnetic
pickup. Your case is a bit different, ignitors are hall effect units with built in amplifiers.
However, you may be able to use the box by connecting the white wire
(which the manual says not to use) to ignitor's black wire.
In this case ignitor acts as points grounding the signal and triggering the Hyfire.
If you can measure +12V from white wire when the ignition is turned on,
it should work. Another way to test it is to put a spark plug to coil high voltage lead
and repeatedly grounding the white wire you should see the plug sparking.
Purple an green are not used if the above works as I wrote.
