My daily driver is a 77 diesel golf, it's not running currently beause I'm replacing the old 1.5L D engine for a proper one.

Javabug, your GTI is great ! What year is it ? Because you have pre-80 rear lights and the post-80 dashboard ?

Here is my wifes 87 passat. It is a 1.8 automatic.
It has been lowered 6 cm by the previous owner and I fitted 16" rims and touran hubcaps.

And this is my daily.
it is a 2007 crafter 2.5 5 cilinder diesel with around 140 hp.it is the full option version.
It is also known as the tiki tow car.

Both my kids have water pumpers... My daughter drives a 2000 Jetta 2.0 and my son has a 2000 Passat 1.8 turbo. Have you ever changed the oil filter on a Passat? What the Hell ??

Ha ha!  Only a true european would notice that!  Good eye.  My GTI started out as a 1983 US-Spec Rabbit GTI, which had completely different dash board and tail lights.  I didn't connect the year difference in the small tail lights and the later dashboard until after I did the work.  Yes, for it to be more correct I should have the larger european tail lights.  If I were ever to redo the car again I would fix that, but its pretty unlikely I will ever do that.

Thanks for the copmliments!  I appreciate it.  What are you putting in your diesel?  A newer turbo diesel?

My wife has a 2001 Audi A4 1.8 turbo, real close to a Passat.  Those filters make a damn big mess, don't they?  I put a page of newspaper on the subframe to try and help.

Ok I see ! On it you are supposed to have euro large lights or US like this :

On mine the 1.5L D engine is dead so I picked up a GTD mk1 and I will put the 1.6L turbo diesel engine with the 5-speed gearbox. I don't know if the GTD rabbit was sold in the US.

That's what my car originally looked like, except in black.

We didn't get the GTD car, as far as I know.

The GTD have the same specs as the GTI with a turbo diesel engine, maybe the gearbox is different but I'm not sure.

The daily driver... '02 TDI GL Wagon (Variant Wink) Re-mapped, larger injectors, PLENTY of power, 40+mpg (driven hard). The car sees about 160 miles per day. My first TDI, but not my last...

I dig your wagon, Dave. Sounds/looks/performs GREAT. TDI engines that VW is producing are wonderful and efficient.

You're right... I dig wagons. Mostly European ones and only the pre 1973 U.S. made ones.

My daily driver since my sons were born in the early '90s:

It's been a reliable and fun car... a 1987 245DL European delivery model with 5 spd. roll-up windows, and vinyl interior. 99% of the Volvo estates/wagons in this country are automatic, electric windows, and cloth interiors. I removed the cat, the front muffler, and did some mild engine mods. Best car I've ever owned and will never sell it.
