It's old school for a reason

« on: August 21, 2007, 20:03:43 pm »

lost my engine at the weekend and though about a replacement up to £4,500 and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on CB performance’s new programmable Efi used with their blow through turbo kit. Looking for some fun on the track and reliable daily driving thrown in. I will be doing 7-10k a year in a full weight car with stock gearing.

Thought about sticking it on a 1.9-2.3 litre low compression block for reliability with this kit on top.  Any comments welcome.

Thanks in advance

Hi Ron, to my humble opinion the CB stuff has nothing new. I've searched high and low about the "new" kit, but found nothing. As far as the "old" kit goes, it seems like wide open or nothing.Not for me Huh Rumours told me there's a new guy working at CB who knows EFI. But after some calls i only had the "pleasure" to talk to ... Same Shit, Different Day. (Excuse my french)

But do you think its value for money and would i get what i want from it. Super reliable but enough power for some track fun with good numbers

i dont think its the same at all;
you get software to tune yourself, autotune feature i think ,...
you dont need a return line
but i like more my megasquirt: much cheaper!

Its priced as follows

Naturally asperated kits are $2,095.00 and turbo kits are $3,495.00 or about £1050 for the naturally asperated kits or £1747.50 for the turbo kit

reading through Mike lawless report on the kit there is no need to run a return fuel line and it is full tunable via a laptop.. Only thing I havent found out is is you can run a crank fired ignition.

Here's Mikes Lawless report on a 1776cc with twin 48 throttle bodies

So something did happen overthere. Just read the Mike Lawless story you posted, that's impressive stuff. Thanks. I can't tell you if its value for money, and Mike Lawless is more or less sponsored by CB (if i'm correct). So that still leaves us with a single opinion. But this stuff IS interesting.

I think the pump is controled by the software and shuts of when you dont need it.

Did somebody already find other links to the new system ? I'm interested (again). T4, 2,7 with this stuff, or the IDA way  Huh
