Puncture in slick

Hi,
This might be a stupid question but I've just found a piece of mig wire in one of my slicks . My question is can you get it repaired or use inner tubes or are they scrap now

Hi mate.....we've repaired them before just get it balanced when it's plugged.....unless it's getting old anyway in which case scrap it :-)

I run tubes in my M&H dots.  I also used to run tubes when I ran 8.5" wide Mickey Thompson slicks.

Tubes are ok but if you run low psi they can spin round inside the tyre.....

I think I will try and get it repaired , I blew it up to 11psi yesterday dinner time and i checked earlier and it is softer  but not flat , its such a small hole

Some 'Crow's Snot' and a patch on the inside should fix it then!!

Hi Darren I had one repaired in my old slick.  From memory they used a small rubbery plug type of thing and it worked just fine,

 JMHO      I run tubes in my slicks , so your answer is yes you can. I install screws in the lips of the rim so the tire cannot spin on the rim. I have always run tubes because they keep my air pressure more consistant and do not go flat between races LOL  . On my new "Street " car I added screws and to the rear tires because I spun them on the rims also, 2387 Turbo . I would never plug or patch a slick because of the heat and flexibility normal with them .  Mike McCarthy
