Sounds great Richie should be a blast, good luck and enjoy. Look forward to seeing the times posted.
Whats the rules on tyres- DOT only or can you change to slicks at the track?

i always thought it was bracket racing with a drive on th road?

Nope full heads up on a pro tree with an approx 25mile cruise. Hence why I always qualify last and get knocked out in the first round by 7 second cars Smiley Great fun and gives you something to chase Shocked Grin LOL

12 cars turned up and made the cruise, was mainly fun, 7 miles or so of constant stop lights at beginning not so, good test of streetability of cars though, car behaved ok even if the clutch was a little hard after a while of constant stop start traffic

Yes Rich we can swap to slicks at track, I did use DOT's on cruise

Henk, your from Belguim right? I am (too), and it is indeed a shame we can't use our cars over here the way they where built to use! I have a street/strip bug that a would love to race even against other types of streetcars, whitout travelling for 300km. I visited clastres last year, and saw some fast street cars over there, there should be some interest over here to organise something similar, open to all brands off cars, as long as they are street legal.

Shane's car was built by Kris but he ran it this weekend in ProMod.
As far as I am aware the car is USW legal.

My brief report:

For some reason wastegate or boost controller didn't behave, leaving with 38lbs boost in 1st gear upset something and while it was really fun while it lasted it had lifted a head and made a hole in it by 3rd gear so that was my day racing done, still was a good day and everyone raced with the right spirit, go fast and have fun Smiley

Andy Fabbro was the winner with his drawthrough turbo car running best 10.99@128ish mph, most of the cars were in 11 second zone so all rounds were tight which added to the enjoyment

I got to participate in this event as well and had a blast! Thanks Richie for coming over and introducing yourself, it was nice to meet you, and thanks for the stoking the fire to get me down there. Both the cruise and the race day had their ups and downs for us, but in the end we are homeward bound with a new PB and a car that will take me to work Monday morning. Can't ask for much more than that!

In true tradition of following our VW race pioneers like Dean Lowery and the Schley brothers I took it apart in the hotel car park Wink Grin as we are still on the road in the hope it can be fixed ready for the next race, its ugly but nothing is impossible Wink

Devcon.
 Grin

PS: just curious though, is it a full-blown race port, or are you able to find another as a replacement rather than welding?

Best of luck with your races man. Cool

It would be hard to find a matching one as they changed the casting and valve spacing since these were done and everyone breaks the same one  Wink We will see what needs doing this week

Hi Richie,

Just out of curiosity really, what kind of mix would you say are turbo cars / nitrous cars / normally aspirated cars ?   presuming for the street driven course element of the competition you have to use regular unleaded pump fuel ?  which am guessing means high compression normally aspirated cars are out ( ie Pro Gas style 14:1 CR n/a ).....

Cheers Shane.

Ps good luck with getting the head sorted to continue if you can.

Only one N/A car, and that runs E85 which is normal pump fuel here and readily available so no cooling issues for higher compression, rest are low compression turbo cars

There is no fuel requirement in the class. If you are willing to cruise 20 miles on $20 per gallon fuel, so be it. The rules to the class are few, if it ain't in the rules, we don't care  Wink

......... The rules to the class are few,   Wink

*sigh*

Simple, easy, no fluff.
Like the tyre class rules, run anything you want but it HAS to be a 10.5" or a 6" or a Nankang 165.
