Life's too short, so drop a bomb on it....

Hi guy's

Not sure if this is on the right section or if it's a load of crap then I'll delete it  Smiley.

I've got a 65 swing axle beetle and I really need to sort the rear suspension out with me going faster this season and coming off the power and not wanting the car to go into positive camber and lose control and crash...!.

Just for piece of mind I need some advice and maybe pictures of what people do. I've been told to mark a line when the car is on the for in its ride height and then jack it up slightly then mark it again. Drill a hole on the 2nd hole and bolt a m10 bolt.

To stop the car and plates going into positive camber. Any advice on how to do this properly and pictures would be a great help.

Another option is straps next to your rear shocks to limit the droop.

Limit straps for sure.  They will stretch, which will be progressive.  You can twist the strap for adjustability.

What length do the straps need to be or is that custom to the car?

I was experiencing similar issues and ended up installing 35.5 cm (14") limiting straps.  It certainly reduced the drama, when lifting at the end of the drag strip:

How do the limit straps behave on a street(/strip) car? I would think a camber compensator would be more beneficial on a dual purpose machine?

Do you need limit straps? I have a spare set 13" long.

I would also replace the rubber pieces on your torsion bars with something like this,
http://www.piersideparts.net/JC1028.html      The rubber originals will move which changes the suspension settings. I actually have these on my street / race car. Just a suggestion . Mike McCarthy
