I like the T-bars and no caps myself. That's the best looking arrangement you've displayed on your non conforming, laugh in the face of rules, as you like it, automobile in my humble and outspoken opinion. Thank you, Jason... you're a gentleman and a scholar. but full bumpers not cal look? I rest my case HA! Funny, when I think of full bumpers on a Cal Look VW, I instantly thought of Brian Plummer's Lotus White '67 and Gary Berg's blue '67. Good call, my friend. One of my all time favorites! Where is it now? <watching as the tin opener approaches the can of worms>

Not as bad as some have been told. I don't think Gary has seen it in a very long time...

It's bad and needs to go back to it's loving original builder. But sadly... that probably won't ever happen. Poor car. Oh well.

Clean implementation of early bumbers ... Nice. They came that way in Europe ? Hmm...My Euro '72 had the non-shock bumpers, looked like '68. No guards, just the blade with a black vinyl (?) in the detent of blade.

the grilles in the decklid are not correct, that never came on 1200's. the pressing for grilles behind the side rear window is correct. they also have a small headliner and no chrome strip on the front bonnet.

When ordered with Stickshift they had a 1300 engine and vents in the decklid... Best regards Steve

indeed: that car of EdwinT is the european economy beetle, volkschris explained it well. it came without chrome in the window rubbers as well. the decklid came with the first 1302s, if i'm right, the four louvers decklids came on some 1300s, if i'm right. but there is something different about EdwinTs beetle. i haven't seen economy beetle from that era with the pressings behind the rear windows and mine doesn't have ashtrays in the rear panels. didn't this car come with the bigger bumpers and did EdwinT swap them his fenders? nice car by the way!! although i'm more in favor of period correct wheel patterns, so four lug wheels. what color is it?

Edwin's car is a '72 and is correct with early bumpers and the side panel pressing. The big bumpers on the 1200 Standard model appeared when they replace the small pre-68 rear lights with 1303 lights, on the '74 Standard model (they also remove the front horn grills and put the bumpers brackets through the fenders instead of the apron). Top the '74 1200 and bottom the '74 1300 (no side panel grills on the 1200, you can see the 1300 had vents on the inside around the rear window and the 1200 didn't)
