1970 VW ,Don,t  have a narrowed beam installed , and would like not to have to fit one , but  front wheels stick out past the  guards slightly , Can the wheels be modified in any way , machined to increase  the back spacing , Huh  Or will only bubble top centrelines fit stock beam . How narrow a beam would be needed , to fit the 15x4.5 centrelines with 4x130 stud pattern . Any one been down this track , Any info would be much appreciated . Cheers Harry

Bubble Centerlines were only made in the wide five pattern. and would need about a 1/2" spacer to clear disc brakes. The ideal way to go would be a 2" narrowed beam with your brakes, spindles and wheels.

Thanks for the correction Grin

I chose cookies, as everyone goes for repro Fuchs or gasburners
Strong lightweight wheels, technically period correct ( well, the 6’s are!)

Love your early ronal/ remotec? Rims!

I’ve actually just bought a later style set I’m thinking about fitting, but would be polished and detailed.

A couple of months ago I picked up this 66 bug. Had been sat in a barn partly finished for around 8 years. Have got it up and running with its 1300sp for now. As I'm putting together a 76x94mm Engine for it over the winter.

Finally back out after three months for a new fuel system, fresh valve springs, and a 1 5/8" merged header with a SS muffler. Still some cleaning to do, above and below, but it's running good and driving great.

So far, so good! It's nice to be able to hear it over the noise from the carburetors, but it's surprisingly tame at cruising RPMs. I need to get some pictures soon showing how much more tucked in it is under the fender compared to my old one, which stuck out more than halfway, and sat lower too. This is great though, I don't scrape the muffler coming out of my driveway!

A few weeks ago I came across a very solid '67 1300, so I collected some parts I had stacked up, and after a day of wrenching it looks a whole lot better. Next on the list is an engine to match the looks, and next winter I plan on taking it back to the original lotus white color.
