Good looking '66, Chris. Looks to be a late model, too. (round button exterior door handles)
BTW - they are not interchangeable with later round button ones, from a '67, are they?
I have round button handles in my '66 and wanted to find some replacements, but it seams to be a little bit more difficult than in case of a late model Bug.

No they're not interchangeable. There was about 4 months at the end of '66 model year with the round pushbutton handles but early latches. '67 look the same from outside but are quite different to work the late-style latch mechanisms. Got a feeling the '66 are 2 screw and '67 are 1 screw, but don't quote me on that - it's been a while since I had a '66!

I would be very happy to be at EBI with my zwitter, but it still has a few adjustments needed to make such long a trip from Norway. But next summer I'm cruising south into Europe, at least for Hessisch Oldendorf and hopefully EBI 3 (if there's going to be one). Will be at SCC in august if you're coming  Smiley

Taken from another thread regarding the zwitter above:
cool cruisin pic!
what tyres are you running? 145s and 185s?

If you are refering to the zwitter; 5.60-15 and 6.40-15 Firestone bias ply... Old Speed =)
awesome! how does one convert these sizes to the common 155 etc. width sizes?
Thanks,
the 5.60-15 is the original dimension for T1, and can be compared to 155 tires. BUT they have a larger profile, so the overall hight of the wheel is a lot taller (makes the lowering limited) The rears are 6.40-15 which is the original dimension for T2. The width can probably be compared to 185 radials. But these are really tall, and I'm not sure wich profile to compare with. Cokertire got data on most of their tires on their site. You will find the overall hight to use for measuring there. Even though the rears are aprox 185 wide, the contact surface to the road is not even close to 185, something very noticeable on rainy days  Wink It's all about the look...

Cool bug Ian, whats the motor? Love the original Hurst, I have one (copper/wood) and was pondering running it in place of the berg. Looks cool.

kaferboy ....  its a 2176 . curreently being freshened up Cheesy

jim  ..... do you recognise the oval as one you went looking at for somebody ??
i remember you telling me at nicks one time that you had been looking at a black oval out in the desert somewhere that was a right nail , and you told the person you were looking for to forget it !!!

i finally got the car to nicks one rainy night a couple of months later , i wanted to ask you about it , but it was "pissing down" (manchester expression) and although there was only about 6 of us there , i was more worried about getting a flashlight to fix my newly (pronounced NEARLY) installed wipers !!   Roll Eyes

Thats on the Crank. Im fighting gearbox issues at the moment. When I get things mocked up again im going to have it dialed/tuned on a dyno in the near future, hoping to find a few ponies more with this curently setup.
