I went to Buddy Hale shop today Type One Restoration to pick up the 66 to bring home. They worked on the body and all parts for a week to get it all wet sanded and buffed. Now the next step is the headliner to be installed before bolting the body back on the pan. Here a few pictures of the car all done.

Lookin' GOOD!!!!! A Beetle's sabbatical to the body/paint shop can seem to take forever . . . Hale did really nice work (twice?) on a considerably large job in a reasonable amount of time . . . I'm impressed!

The reason why it was done twice is because the body had issues after Buddy painted it. Buddy did not do the body work first time around and after i had looked at it closer noticed a lot of imperfection in the body work and Buddy decided to start all over again.

I took my 66 on Friday to a friend that lives in the neighborhood and does custom interior on all type of Hot Rods including VW his name Bryan Cline . Here are a few pictures of the headliner done in a couple of days and what a nice job Bryan did . Bryan will be doing the interior of the 66 once I am ready to do it . This is the kit from Wolfsburg West .
Thanks Frenchy

Did some work on the 66 today added the body back on the pan after 11 years of been separated. I also drilled the two holes at the base of the rear tray and this one will be for my breather box. And installed the main wiring back in the car. Thanks Frenchy

I did a bit more work on the 66 today. Before you know it I will have it done in no time. You will notice most of us that have restored VW over the years that on the bug the 4 front bolts 2 on each side on the pan they get rusted out and they are very difficult to remove so I decided to use my hole saw and make my own inspection area . After this I will use a rubber plug to hide this inspection area and to keep water out. I installed the gauge panels and the radio block off plate and the glove box door. In the engine compartment I installed the right and left side breather fittings at the base that will be connected to the valve covers once the engine is installed. Mounted the fuel lines and fuel line pressure regulators and the main fuel line from the pan to the bulk head . And both rear deck lid hinges . Thanks Frenchy

Spend the day today working on the 66 Cal Look project. Windows are in breather lines in the engine compartment almost done . New windshield and I had to look through a dozen side rear quarter windows to find a nice pair without scratches . Glove box door with button head fasteners . Front hood hinges etc ....

Looking very nice Frenchy. I had a Bahama Blue '66 years ago, so I've got a bit of a soft spot for early big-window cars.
