Wheel choice race car

Hi,
New car, new wheels...
I'm pretty set on going billet wheels with beadlock(s) in the back.
Need some input on sizes (car is away getting back halfing done).
3" shorter axles.
8" wheels should be easy, but should I opt to go 10"?
Does anyone remember the distance from the brake disc mounting surface to the ladder bars?

Thinking distance from brake/wheel mounting surface to ladder bars will depend on brakes hubs used but I used 3.5inch backspace wheels on booth New cabrio and No mercy and coil over spring was closest thing to tyre but neither are beadlocks, that will add an extra headache
. I would definitely build it with room for 10inch wheel/10inch slick even if you don't need that right now
cheers Richie

Thanks Richie
7 rims on swing axle is easy, but quite tight.
10 should go. RLR ladder bars are maybe 10mm thicker than a spring plate. And the coil overs should clear as the mounted angle will have it not going past the ladder bar (I think)
Thinking on a 26/27 x 10.5/11.5 Hoosier DOT tire. Both have 8 rim as an option.
Whats your 2 cents on beadlocks?

Beadlocks are nice but if you are using a DOT then probably not needed, and they are heavy!!! we watch for tyre movement on wheel on mine and most have seen is about 2inches over a season.
I would use the biggest rim width you can and stretch the tyre not the smallest and crush it, its not uncommon to see a 12 or even 14inch wide wheel on a 275 drag radial

Ok. So even wider than the tire manufacturer recommend on the tire?
I checked out champion wheels and did not think the weight they listed was that heavy. But the might have the weight without the beadlock and bolts..

Thanks.
Not sure yet about slicks vs. DOTs.
Heart vs. brain :p
Good thing it won't race until 2020 earliest.

My car is in the middle of being back halfed right now, maybe this might help. I am running early length swing axles and the tubes are later model swing axle tubes that I shortened to fit the short race axles., the difference between the two end castings gives me more wheel to ladder bar clearance . I have billet wheels on my street tires but they are really heavy, but they look good. I found a set of old Mitchell wheels I will be using which are really light on my slicks. Like Richie said the bead locks are extra heavy . Mike McCarthy

I thought "all" 3" or shorter axles had short splines?
Anyway, you won't get more room for the wheel, just the option to have deeper wheels.
Me wanting a billet wheels has to do with looks, and the fact it is super easy to get the best ET / back spacing you need.
Champion has 0.25" increments on their 10" wheels.
From 3,5" to 8".
Think I need to get the car back, then shop for brakes, and then sort out wheels

Nah, still have the fake centerlines on it and 4x130
215/65 and bike tires up front
But yeah. Ola is rocking the transformation!
