For a '66, sloped lenses. Uprights would look out of place.

i really like the smoked plexiglass look, i've made a set for my car in light brown, the same as my windows, but i dont have any pics on my PC.

it's a quick job to change them and the give the car a really different attitude,

as for the uprights.....if the car is dechromed then i'd colour code them every time!

Keep it simple, use whatever was factory fitted to the car, year/model/finish correct.

I painted my headlight buckets black.  It might not work on a dark car, but I like the look of it on my car.

I like that effect on a '66 or earlier, dark, light, whatever color. Personally, I like the look of a flat, tinted lense too on early cars. I don't like the look of Porsche lenses with the flat top.

On '67 and up, I like US spec-style, preferably an H4 assembly of some sort...Bosch, Marchal, Hella...  as far as rim goes, chrome on cars with moldings and bumpers, match painted on shaved rides.

Marchal Amplilux, it doesn't get more exotic than that (well, maybe Carellos JOD 170 if you can find them!)

On the '70 I'm going for body colour but on the '51 I think I'm going for US-spec like Mike Mahaffey's split posted above with the chrome rims. I'm undecided on Lexan covers - Rich Selecta had them on his Porsche Iris blue 'looker and they looked superb, but I'm not so sure on some of the Japanese ones.
How about blacked out rims and handles - Martin Boom Boom has it on his gold '65 and it really works. Wink

I like stock headlight assemblies with glass lenses, which have a bubble look to them. This flows with the fender and hood lines. I like shaved turn signals and using the parking light as a turn signal should be a simple job.

It all really depends on the car.
