So what plans do you have for your cal-looker in the next year? Driving it to some shows? Doing some work on it? Racing it? What you up too?

 Cheesy  Here's my realistic list:

Needs either a master cylinder or rear wheel cylinders; I've got new parts, so probably that should be first.

I bought a 1-1/2" merged with flanged heater boxes over the winter, I think that will make a nice upgrade for the summer.

Buy a selection of jets for the Kadrons and get it really dialed in.

Drive, drive, drive, and get to the track at least a few times.

 Sad  Here's my un-realistic list:

Mock-up my 2110 as best I can, and have it ready for insertion into the car by the end of the summer.

For the Car - Well there is a pile of parts in my office - upgrades for the ignition, a set of axles, line-loc, new rear seat and the start of a nitrous kit.

I'll get the axles, ignition, line-loc and rear seat done. Nitrous might have to wait until next winter.

For shows - The Classic (If our new baby arrives on time), Our show the Great Canadian VW Show, maybe Vegas BOR in Oc t and get out to the track whenever possible.

Lanny's list for my car - wipers, horn and interior light, I'll try and get around to that this year again, but it has been 10 years so....

68 Project bug
Keep accumulating parts!

Pic up new 66 bug (Stock)
Fits 2litre wheels
2110CC Motor (Needs new carb linkage, toying with idea of serpentine pulley kit)
Get Flat 4 wheel and shifter
Lower Front
take to bug in.

Turn girlfriends 74 1200 into late model Cal Looker.

These are the plans hopefully get somewhere with them!

Finish the 1914....sorry - 1915 engine. I have all the parts, shortblock is assembled and waits in my room.
Replace the gearbox and reinforce the surroundings in order to avoid wheel hop.
Replace torsion bars.
Make the car steer strait and brake strait.
Replace front seats
Replace or delete bumpers
Find a set of good fenders, paint and fit them, together with some work on doors and front quarter panels (flows from last year rebuild)
The last one I'm probably not going to make on time (Bug In). As for the previous ones - I have no choice.

I probably forgot about something like 346 other things that need to by done.

fit new door panels, fit new doors! (Must paint these first).  The doors are a good story, 2 x NOS doors = 2  x bug-in dash plaques.  What a swap Smiley

Fit new engine bay side trays, 10mm narrower.

Fit hydraulic clutch.

Weld in mid mount, and CSP trap bar.

Bleed brakes!

Not much. Worst case I need new set of carbs to my '55 Oval, my 48 Dells got the Dellorto drip last summer and the guy fixing that probably ruined my carbs (long story). Other than that just driving. Probably will let go of that car at the end of the season, so will be swapping engine/gearbox/brakes etc back to stock spec after the summer.

I'll mostly be working and spending my money on my Resto Cal 'Vert Wink

Eeeh, get it done..?  Cheesy

1.realistic so it seemed a few weeks ago... then the kids got chicken pox, on after the other after the third...  Angry Cheesy

Finish up the assembly, hang the headliner, refurbish the seat frames and re-upholster front and back seats, stuff in the windows and a zillon other "small things" probably not on the "to-do-list" then get a fire exstinguisher and... crank the old 1584cc. Wash off all the garage dust, wax it then get it through Vehicle inspection then drive, drive, drive...  Smiley

2.un-realistic? below is a bit dependent on making good progress on number 1 item...   Cool
hand over my 2165cc to my motorguru-to-be, tear it apart, check all bearings, cc the chambers, check balancing, perhaps a valve-job on the 044s, perhaps replace the 44IDFs for a pair of 48IDAs... Hopefully no major bad surprises, then put it back togheter and most importantly put it in the back of the car which probably means check and / or replace fuel line, install my Holley fuel pump and regulator, upgrade with some steel braided lines and AN couplings, freshen up the engine bay, bla bla...

then let her rip!... and replace gearbox for next season, as always, there is always next season right!  Wink

Honestly, if I can make number 1 happen I'll be a happy camper for this season to come! Damned, I need to get an au-pair at home and an assistant at the office!  Tongue

cheers,

Keep it together for drag day on Sunday the 16th, as long as it doesn't rain. Also hoping to run bug in on the 6th of April. Only things I may end up doing is getting the headliner done and laying down the square weave.

Red Coil w/ resistor
New deluxe running boards
Lower and align rear suspension

Have dents massaged out

That's off the top of my head. We'll see how much of that I can finish before Bug-In Roll Eyes

Doesn't mean you don't have a plan! If you're bored you can borrow mine for the racing season and come the autumn stick some spots on the top and go cat shooting, it's why I got a rag top. With the other project on the go at the moment the '63 isn't a major part of my plans for 2008 right now. A couple of race meets is going to be about it I think.

A plan, some wishes and a very low USD it`s all there is for the moment but thank you for you offer.. be careful, I might show up and ask for your key. If there is one car I would like to push below 13 seconds it`s your 63  Wink

- Complete my 2332 engine bulid
- Rescue my poor Oval from its current resto-stance
- Install an extensive list performance/safety related bits'n'pieces
- Install new KCR transmission
- Install the above mentioned 2332
- Learn how to drive a VW with more-than-stock power
- ENJOY IT
- Probably think about how to get more power next year...

Realistic
1. Finish the late model project car - needs doors repairing, wings and lids fitting, then paint and re-assembly Smiley
2. do some gardening...

Unrealistic - more likely to be '09
1. Quick tidy up on my brothers car - body off, repair a few rust spots on bulkhead and crossmembers, POR 15 pan and underside of shell, new front valance, 'glass wings, cabrio-ise the engine lid, fit 1500 gearbox, 2007 motor, another new headliner, paint whole car! Should get some of this done, but unlikely that it'll all be done for the end of the year! Cheesy
2. Finish the garden!

Really unrealistic!
1. Build the '51!
2. Enjoy gardening...

Well I'm looking forward to seeing whatever comes of that, all the best with it. I have to say though, I loved that blue car...

Hey, me too! A shortage of Mallory parts (at the Mallory factory [!]) slowed 2007 down. It's in the neighbourhood this year and if you want it the key's yours...

Probably? I think you`re already thinking about that.... do it the easy way, don`t do anything with your 2332 except for installing nitrous and shoot 80hp, run 12`s (11`s?) at the strip and drive it all day on the roads.

 Cool
