...natural finish alloys...
...old natural alloys...
...but with natural alloys...
...natural alloys.
The new anti-"chromed earlies" internet buzz word is here.
Sorry, I'm from another era and don't stay up to date with whatever's new. When I worked at the dealers, we called 'em natural finish, unmolested, factory finish, unpolished, etc. So, natural they are. Chrome was and will never be an option.

So... it's safe to say that most people like Schwimmer's car, and rightly so.

Like I've said before... the only thing wrong with that car is the name on the registration... wish it was mine!

I guess I am different than most out there. I am satisfied with the cars I own. I just wish they were as they were back in their glory days. Me I would rather fill my garage with more quality tools so I can do more than I can now. I would like a nice lathe and end mill and a mig and tig welder. I am already running out of room so I guess a larger garage would be in order to house all that. ...and oh yeah the garage should have a lift to make it easier to work on the underside of the cars.

Yeah, one of my biggest problems is that my favorite project is always the next one. I truly admire people who have had their cars for years, or even decades. For me though, there are just so many cars out there that I want to experience. (VW and otherwise) I enjoy the build almost as much as I enjoy driving them. I will keep this '67 for a long time, but there will always be another car build on the horizon. At any one time I have two or three other projects whirling around in my head. (Currently a '70s style buggy, an early 911, a long hail all terrain Bug for a trip to the polar circle & a '54 Chevy pickup.)

I'd want my own '67 with all of its stupid little glitches fixed (first would be hot carb BS), new fresh paint, bumpers redone, my dream interior. Time to work on it and clean it and room to do so as well. My garage looks like Baby's R Us and a VW speed shop tried some futile attempt at a business merger.
Kind of like those strip malls here in The Valley..... "Mr. Lee Donuts, Videos and Mufflers"

I'm going to buck the trend and not pick any existing car! Instead I'm choosing 5 cars I'd love to build!
1. black '60's Karmann Ghia, detailed Fuchs, 2007 IDA motor. One piece bumpers, full trim.
2. Porsche Guards red oval, blacked out handles, again detailed fuchs and a 2007 or 2165 IDA motor. Real late 70s/early 80s car!
3. late model ('68-'71) bug, maybe black with red interior, maybe beige with brown, original empi 8's, 2276 IDA motor
4. split window ragtop, BRMs and big IDA motor (theme here!), dechromed and de-bumpered, early 70's porsche colour
5. a gasser, tube axle, lots of aluminium panelling, metalflake and gold leaf! Dangerous but cool!

Yes we probably have. My point wasn't that you should want anybody else's car, but rather that you could show us what other cars you wanted (unbuilt cars, in you imagination)... since they are free
I agree with you on the bit about wanting other peoples cars, to many are wasting their time wanting some one else's version of the cal looker instead of listening to their inner voice and build their own "version".... IMHO

OK here goes.
1. My 59 Ragtop
2. A 58 Speedster w/ over rider bumpers, faded orig black paint, hardtop w/ metalflake Union Jack painted over entire top, sort of like you see on Mini's, Mag Berms or American 5's w/ polished drums, 82 x 88 roller crank slipper skirt motor w/ short IDA's & a Mag.
3. 69 Vert Ghia, 5.5 & 6 Alloys, mild 2400cc motor ,5 speed 4 wheel disc. Dark metallic grey with a loud plaid interior, sort of early 911 styling.
4. My 55 back, zolotone interior, mag Berms, Ti valve, Ti rod, VW head roller cam motor lots of compression ,low gears, does wheelies, drive it on the street..
5.My 77 Westfalia, big 911 motor, air cond. trailer hitch to tow cars 1 thru 4 home if something falls off 1 of them.
I have another list for Hot Rods & American cars. cool thread Bill
