Magnesium Torq Thrust D's Anyone?

http://vintageeng.com/?page_id=3
came across these on a recent search
a one piece, sand cast 15 x 8 magnesium five spoke Trans Am wheel. We also have a 15 x 7 and next month a 15 x 4 will be available. Applications include all muscle cars, rods, early 911 Porsche, Shelby Mustang, Corvette, drag racing
Why do people keep putting obstacles in the way of my wheel choice!

Those wheels are not magnesium, they are aluminium.
Explain?

I can't imagine too many manufacturers want the liability of making a mag wheel anymore.................They're rare for a reason.

I dont see where i made any editorial comment about the price...simply filled in what I recall the answer to your question to be from when I spoke with them a few months ago.
Anyway..... Yes, they are magnesium. The wheel they are showing is the more traditional Chev/Ford style wheel. Remember, the 15 x 7 Porsche pattern mag and any other magnesium wheel DID have the 5-ear flange and was almost identical to the aluminum wheel. Only the 15x5-15x6 Porsche mags had the funny snap-in cap.
For $3500, I might seriously consider selling my magnesium 6's from my 911...

Also, I spoke with them about liability and the fragile nature of mag and was given an interesting explanation of how the casting process is so much more advanced now than it was in the 60's and proosity is not an issue...all details of which has dribbled from my memory by now.

The new repro pictured above is Aluminium.
Dave is talking about the original ones from 35+ years ago that were Mg.
Someone kick Bruce in the sack for me. That wheel is magnesium and it is new. Follow the link.

the 15x8 did have a straighter spoke then the 15x7 or the 15x6 the 15x7 Porsche Pattern have the same outside offset as the 15x6 Chevy or ford wheel the offset is 1 inch to the inside on the 15x7 Porsche wheel

shubee,i think they are cool wheels, but why copy the features of the ali wheel (the 5 eared centre cap,the big sizes) then make them out of magnesium ? to appeal to 911 racers i imagine
so the question is what does the 4 inch look like...ali or mag ?
EDIT
cornpanzer already covered this,sorry

One kick on the way..I called the manufacturer this morning, he was insulted that I suggested they may have an al wheel on the site. It is mag.
