The other night Daniel calls and says that he's just about ready to fire up the injected 2110 in his fastback.  I beg my wife to go, and she reluctantly agrees, but says don't stay to long.  I'm off like a prom dress.  So we get to work, or more accurately I get in the way while Daniel gets to work.  "Why won't it fire?  Does it have spark?  No, it doesn't.  What are these red and black wires for?  The pertronix isn't connected.  No wonder it won't fire up."  At that point we call it a night, because neither of us are thinking straight.  He fires it up the next day and broke it in.  Now, normally I'm not a fastback guy, but this thing just works for me.  It drives like  a stocker, but with 3 times the power and 4 wheel discs.

31k original miles.

Real 8 spokes!

Dig the alternator conversion.  Almost looks factory.

I'm sure Daniel would have liked a notchback also,  but they weren't imported into the US and as such are very hard to come by in  decent shape.  How many 31k original paint 1st year fastbacks have you seen?

Hi Ideaman,

can you tell us a bit more about the engine details? What cam? Rods? Heads?
Would be nice to get some information, because I am building a 2276 Type 3 engine as well for my Ghia and not to many people have experiences with big Type 3 motors.
Cheers,

Georg

Daniel Hood built it in the shop you can see in the background.  It has mostly CB performance parts, crank and rods and their roundports.  Set up with 8.5 to one and CB 2288 cam and 1.4 rockers.  Car has CB performance fuel injection.  Runs like a top.  Anything I missed, Daniel?

hàow i wish my fastback was in stage of finishing. i will be running 8 spokes as well. just got the o-rings from speedwell yesterday. all it needs now is some finetuning on the windows, an complete interiour, wires and lights, and the engine back in; and of course a lot of finetuning, but i am getting there as well.

i have seen the car on the samba and it sure looks good to me. the only question i have is how you get cool air into the carbs with the lid closed. my enginecompartment gets so hot and it suck all the hot air in, not a good thing in my opinion. but i have never had problems so far. but i want to keep it all going.  Wink Wink
