I, personally, like minilites but not on a Cal Looker. They do look good on a circuit racer or hillclimb car from the 70s.
Just my two wheels.

LOOKS GOOD!!! Do you have disc-brakes because you're running thin lips in the front? Looking at the 1500 sign on your engine lid I assume the answer will be "yes"... That's good to know that I could running early Rivi's on my bug when converting to disc brakes...

Keep posting them. I'm curious! Gold would look good on your white '67!!! Combines great with the also very beautiful white!!

A cal-looker is a high performance vehicle so I like to emphasize lightness and keeping the unsprung weight as low as possible. On the other the hand I like the wheel to be an original period wheel instead of a repop (as I try to avoid repops in any "important" parts of a cal-looker, such as wheels, steering wheels, shifters etc.). And the wheels must be affordable and attractive. Also some restoration work by myself is OK as this is a hobby... Based on those criteria I've chosen early "deep" Fuchs (5,5" for the front and 6" for the back). I have also managed to buy the wheels (in unrestored condition) one at the time over a longer period to help financing them. My car is not finished but this is the look I'm after: I do love the period 5 spoke and slot mag wheels obviously preferred by our Norwegian sisters and brothers. Of the 5x205 wheels however my absolute favorite is the Torque Thrust D-spoke (not the Troker repop obviously!).

Pekka, if it will look like that it will definitely become a very cool cal looker! In my opinion early Fuchs wheels are one of the best wheels for a cal looker regarding quality, availibility and weight BUT especially in germany there are so many cars equipped with Fuchs wheels that I´m kinda bored of them. My favorite when it comes to cal look wheels are Centerlines or any vintage 5-spoke wheel.

Thanks :-) I agree....i love the minilites but they belong more on a circuit racer than on a cal-looker. A beetle in "psychedelic paint sheeme", fuchs in front and minilites back would be cool....simply a 1500ST....as this: http://www.autofarm.co.uk/car.php3/SB410.html

Hello all . I'm new here and would like to show what wheels i got on my looker. They are 5,5 KPZ with 215/70/15 in the rear and 145/15 in front. I got another complete set of rims in 4,5 " KPZ and are planning to run those in front with 135/15.
I guess that would be a good setup if i drop the front down just an inch moore.
