All excellent shots.  I'd like to know for sure, but this looks like a very early Maple Grove Raceway, not too far from where I am at.  The farmer's fields give it away.

Actually, now after looking at some other pics, I'd say it was York US-30.  Nevermind.   Wink

That's Larry Meyer (he's a crew chief) & his wife Maureen in the background, The Mad Magazine deal was originally with Toliver, but he pawned it off to Dale Creasy when he got the WWF deal. It's Densham's NEC car in the background on the lift gate.

Got to love the old funny cars. The look soooo bad tempered!!! and the American spindle mounts on the Dunn Reath car looks so right!! Cant wait to use my pair Grin anyone know of a A-Ford front suspension. It has to be a straight tube or the ones with a bend at the ends(I think both these types are aftermarket parts). The originals one are an I beam and made of cast iron(waaay to heavy) if I remember correctly. Not easy to find in Norway

BTW, really cool having a chat with you Mat. I think it was sunday morning at SCC. We have some similar ways of thinking when it comes to 70`s gassers Cheesy
Hope I`m not highjacking your tread with my questions...

It's kinda' one of those threads that doesn't really have a point as such so it's not like there's an issue with it getting hijacked.

I know of a couple of places that may be able to help, I can mail some details over later if that's of any use?

It was a cool conversation for a Sunday morning over a strong coffee, it's funny how you get to meet people sometimes. I was quite amused by the ingredients you'd come up with, there isn't one like it out there but I can say with some certainty that I really like the idea! Then again, I think you possibly already figured that out?

Cheesy

Grin These pix are great! I'll tell ya a lil story........When I was about 6 years old, my father used to take my brother and I to the drags. Lion's, Irwindale, & OCIR. We were at Lion's one afternoon & some dude with one of those spaceman (yea, Fred, I said spaceman) firesuits walked by & slapped me on the back and said "Are ya havin' a good time kid?". Now the cool thing was, he actually paused & waited for me response. As it turns out, some 25 years later & after I started working with fuel teams, that dude was Don Prudhomme. i didn't know it back them (it was just some spaceman guy) LOL Now, he comes over & sits with me on the golfcart at the starting line during qualifying sessions at National events. !  When I told him this story, he said "Jesus, yer maikin me feel old dude" LOL I remind him almost everytime I see him that he IS old!  On occaision, I make him laugh so hard he almost swallows the freakin' toothpick he's always got in his mouth Grin

COOL story, McNew! I recently ran across that Densham shirt that you got me back in 2002 or '03 when you, Ramirez, my sons, and I all met up at Irwindale Raceway. My boys still talk about that day... walkin' around in the pits and seeing all of those machines up close. Good times!
