Some cool stuff on this link..... http://www.60sfunnycars.com/index.htm

Those old five spoke American spindle mounts were always one of my favorites.  I feel fortunate to have had the Halibrands (still got 'em under the workbench) and the twelve spoke Americans, though I sure as hell don't miss the maintenance Tongue Grin

I'm fortunate in that I can hang around the pits when I go racing as my younger brother is the clutch man for a Nito funny car team over here Cool. there seems to be a bit of a funny car revival at the moment in europe I think there are about 8 serious teams out there at the moment which must be the most there has been for about 20 years. I love watchin the funny cars run they are so unpredictable it's great in a scarey kind of way Shocked

here is a shot of the car my brother works on (he's the one holding the body up while they remove the throttle stop after the burnout in the second shot)

It has to be a straight tube or the ones with a bend at the ends(I think both these types are aftermarket parts). The originals one are an I beam and made of cast iron(waaay to heavy) if I remember correctly. Not easy to find in Norway

I know of a couple of places that may be able to help, I can mail some details over later if that's of any use?

Yes please, that would help a lot!! I`m having a hard time trying to track down parts like that in Norway

It was a cool conversation for a Sunday morning over a strong coffee, it's funny how you get to meet people sometimes.

I totally agree, perfect start to a perfect day Cool

I sent a mail to the first place I could think of, if they can't help I'll ask about. If I don't get back to you remind me by PM.

In some ways it's a shame everyday isn't the same!

Never actually saw these cars run in the sixties..........  However, I read every drag racing magazine I came across back then, as well as built as many kids plastic models of these.  Just fully absorbed each issue and stared at every picture......  wow.   What a GREAT thread.  My all time favorite was the Hawaiian, and the Revel, Revelution.  Jungle Jim and of corse the two most popular racers of that era, Don "the snake"Prudohme, and Tom "mongoose" McEwen.  The best rivalry anywhere......... EVER.

Awesome thread.  Keep em coming.

Once in awhile, while in high school in the 70's (ouch) we would see an old timer roll out on like Fox Hunt night at OCIR or sumthin'.  64 Funny Cars!!!!!  BE THERE, BE THERE, BE THERE............. OHHHHHH SEEEEEE EYEEEEEEE AREEEEEE................... ha

I'm young enough to remember the late "Wild Willie Borsch" driving a fuel altered with one hand. Priceless and unforgettable.
