... very cool pictures matt  ...

There's some really cool sites out there for this stuff. Frank could get into real trouble.  Sad

 Cool

That's either a really bad front end shot or the start of a thread on an entirely different topic! Cheesy

Any info on the chassis?  Smiley

Cool photos, Matt!  You may want to search out the latest (September) Hot Rod magazine... Shocked Shocked Cool Wink

I remember Jim Dunn one night was running short of race funds and not wanting to 'waste' the money on Nitro for the cackle fest at the start of the program -- Had Joe Turner act like he was firing the car and then stand there and shake the body back and forth like it was running.  Damn that was funny. Jim says afterwards as the promoter was asking why he didn't fire his car, ' Damn -- I can buy 5 pistons for what I'd would wasted in buying fuel for that shit.'

Harold,  Big Jim Dunn wasn't the only one short on funds. As a poor teenager I used to sneak into OCIR in the trunk of my buddies 65 bug (minus the spare) to watch the "Firemans Quickie" and cars like his.

So poor, that during the big fueler meets we could only watch from the eucalyptus trees across the freeway from the track. So poor that I never tasted
"track food" at OCIR.

Instead we feasted on the best the times had to offer....The early funny cars, the first "back motor" dragsters and the out of control Altereds. And my favorite, standing a safe distance behind the Jet powered cars at the starting line and going home reeking of JP 4.

Watching Dean, Darrel, Paul, and Rich hide from the V8 Chevy's.....Absolutely  Priceless

I only hope that the current generation has the chance to feel the same kind of excitement that we felt....and that their moms have a good sense of humor.  Wink
