That is very sad news. I know Håkan is on the edge of what is possible with a stock suspension and he has been talking about a chassis car again. He did a best time of 9.049 this weekend with a lousy 1.55 60-footer, so the 8's was soo close and I think that was the ultimate goal with the car.

A real shame, one of europes coolest drag vw´s still with plates IMO. I hope Håkan will build himself a new car, as he seems to build them both safe and fast!

Oh no! I'm glad he's okay Too bad with the car, it would hve been be cool with an 8sec floorpan stock suspension car, but as Roman said, it's on the edge. I hope he builds a new car, his cars are always inspiring.

You couldn't reasonably have bet against an 8, his runs at SCC were like clockwork. I think there's a lot of people out there that will want to see him back out on track sometime.

Obviously a crash at that speed is going to be bad, but how bad exactly is the car? Rebuildable with a replacement shell? Pan gone too? Hope you are back on track soon.

Makes me go cold to see one of the VW family go through this. I am sure a few guys in the uk are looking on as there speeds are going to be up there. So lets just tighten those helmet straps and be safe

Thank you all for the kind words!!
I had a lot of luck in that crash, no broken bones, just bruises and a little dizzy.
I have looked at the car yesterday and it seems that the motor and gearbox is ok. Even the chassie looks fine. It was the body and the wheels that took the beating. The chute mount saved the motor.
One thing that helped me was that I always try to keep the belts as tight as possible, a little thing that helps when you flip over at 135mph......
Thanks,
Hakan Lundgren
