Hey Guys,
I just installed the 3th (in 1000km time) intermediate (and very stock) engine, and I still need to build a basic cal-look looking 1600cc engine for the convertible to get me around till next year so I have some more time gathering and preparing all the proper parts for the 2110cc.
So what I had in mind is:
- Stock 1600cc parts (maybe some weight balancing of rods and pistons, not fully balancing)
- Case full flowed only for external filter. Keep the standard cooling system as it is.
- Standard, blueprinted oil pump
- Standard dual-port heads (maybe some mild porting on inlet ports and with cc’ing the chambers)
- Cam: -> I have an original cam, an Engle 110, 120, FK87 and a SCAT C35 recommendations?
- CR?? Recommendations here?
- Carbs: I have a set of 40 Webers with 28mm vents + a set of 36Webers with 32mm vents … which set to use? (and the 40weber don’t have those locking screws for the vents so not sure if I can change them out???)
- Lightened flywheel with standard 200mm clutch
- Bosh 010
- Straight cut cam gears? Or just keep the original style?
- Standard lifter or 1.25:1 lifters on HD shafts?
- Would a 1641cc cylinder kit gain much?
- Heat exchangers with standard 4in1 modified to accept my merged INOX header => I want heat in my VW for a change, never had this before:-)
The goal is to just have a nice running engine built with parts I have that will get me to where I want to go. I do not want a high revving, high output, high maintenance engine. That I will keep for the 2110cc
I just want a good looking and reliable engine…
Thanks for your thoughts and input!
