Well as the title says guys - Anyone know who made these heads  Huh

They are from the the late 70's/early 80's and have NO marks at all as you can see they are a "VW" style casting but other than that I/we are lost  Undecided

They have 42x35.5 valves and the port work is AMAZING  Grin

They do have the letters "LP" stamped on the edge of one of the exhaust - So who's the "head porter" with the initals LP Huh Huh Huh

Since the porting is AMAZING, I assume you have flowed them and found out that LP does not stand for Little Porting?

it's lumio pukaya, a famous headporter in the 70's, he did quite a lot off work on a bunch off drag and street cars. his heads go a lot off money these days. i think he moved back to japan.
Or it could be another headporter by the name off loger prawford, he's still in business in Cali and has some good heads as well.

so either way you got yourself a nice set off heads there, i always recommand good head.

Lonnie Reed ran "The Head Shop" back in the 70's and 80's. I'm sure Sarge and the others can chip in with some more info. Have a look in some old Hot VWs too, you might find an advert with a name that rings a bell or two?

Here you go, and yes they are the heads that were in volksworld a while back (aparently, I don't remember the issue) but the crank is satying with Matt and I found my own SPG out in the States and its now with Gary for the rebuild  Smiley

they were aftermarket diecast heads and they were problematic. We wouldn't work on them or accept them as cores.
There are no VW or Audi rings or VW part numbers, huh? Odd...  they look like a VW casting or an old CB 044 Magnum. Are they short reach plugs?

Your having a SPG rebuild?  Shocked Wow, thought that was like impossible or as costly as having to make a new one from scratch?

well its all relative really - believe it or not but its only $150.00 to press it apart and press it back together Shocked but its all the other bits that start to add up ie new rollers, index pinning, welding, wedgemating, German flywheel etc but like I mentioned before when you buy a "modern" crank there is still alot of machine work, balancing, wedgmating etc to pay for  Undecided Smiley

As I said its all relative - if you look at my "dual carbs thread" I could do this project alot EASIER and alot CHEAPER than I am doing but it would NEVER have that cool factor - Yes I could have brought a pair of Berg short type3 manifolds and Yes I could have used a pair of DCNF's like "other guys Wink" but I wanted to run DCN's and shortened Race Trim manifolds Wink Smiley

Monkiboy - get them flow tested. If you do not have a place over there you can pack them and send them to me and I will bring them to JPM for you to get them tested and send them back.... no wait... that depends on the flow results.... Nah.. I will of course return the heads safely.

There is also a French shop that do the job not far from Paris.
it would maybe be cheaper to send them there than to Norway?

Does John Maher have a flow bench? Failing that, let someone like Lee Maynard have a look at them - I know he knows a hell of a lot about heads! Wink
