What is the height/width difference between a 205/70 and a 205/65?
In answer to my own question, the have the same tread width but the 70s are just under an inch higher.
Can you fit a 215/65 on a 5.5 rim?

Rims: 15x5 Flat-4 BRMs Front tires: Kleber 145-15s Rear tires: F70-15 Firestone wide-O-oval (they are slightly higher than the Pirelli 205/70-15 I previously had); short axles
Stock VW beam with a pair of Sway-A-Way adjusters; rear suspension might be slightly lower than stock Porsche 356B aluminum drums

You should know – we used your private suite! PS - love the new mirrors on the ceiling. Not sure about the chains, though. Jayburn found them a little cold, but Carlos liked them.

Lanny, Did you always have the narrowed beam on that car?
Yes, a 2" beam until around 2002 or so, then 3". It's the disc/spindle combo that caused problems.

What a great thread! Some stunning cars on here! Here is my contribution.
Front - OEM beam narrowed 2.75". CB dropped spindles and a couple small leaves removed to counteract the stiff ride caused when narrowing the beam/torsion leaves. 4" American Racing Torque Thrusts with Mich 145 XZX tires.
Rear - Stock suspension with 7" Americans and 7W Firestone slicks recapped by Caldwell many moons ago. Approx .250 spacer behind wheel
Goal was to have the same gap between tires and fender lip and have the tires as close to the lips as possible without rubbing. None of that silly tucked look. IMO, the 145 matches the shape of the front fender opening better than the 135 plus give just a tiny bit more rubber on the road.

Well, the car has been on either slicks or recapped slicks for more than 10 years and it now has a spool, so turning performance is going to be lousy no matter what. Plus, when I narrowed the beam, there were no narrow sway bars available. But in a more mild mannered car with radials all the way around, I see no reason not to run a sway bar.
