Is this sheep's motor? When the weather gets nice I want to take my car over there and see what it will do on the chassis dyno. I know it made 132 flywheel hp @ 6000.

No it is a 356 kit car that John built the engine for. Sheep's motor is a 1800cc single port.

it was just a simple 40 x 35.5 motor, stock rockers, Kadrons, low CR. The guy brought it to John as a basket case from MO Fo .... you know who. I thought the hp and torque so far looked good for what it was.
should make for a fun streeter in a 356 kit car.

get the thing back to the customer and tell him to be careful driving it!
I'd like to see what it would do with some real carburetors... at least 44IDFs.
Funny, John said he wanted a simple streeter that his customer could putt around in. I advised him on the combo...
Oops.

amazing! what could it be that gives this engine so much power?
it is a lot more than you'd expect from looking at the specs.
i'm hoping another combo you advised will work as good

Thatīs like 150-160hp on the flywheel
It just sounds "wrong", I would have guessed that combo at 100-110 at the flywheel. A 1915 with a VZ15 cam and 40x35,5 heads and kadrons putting out that big amount of horsepower(150-160), just sounds insane.
If it is showing the exact horsepower, then it truely is impressive, no doubt!
Im guessing that this is a joke, right ?

no joke.
John normally does hot rod 911 stuff. He knows his way around assembly. I think it is a recipe that just works. the carbs have venturies that have been opened to 34mm, hence the big mains this thing needed to fuel it. Looking at a fuel curve of 12.5-12.8 on last pull. The VZ15 is not a "tame" cam by any means, look @ duration @ .050 and advertised... see how narrow that spread is. I've used this cam before in under 2000cc and have always been impressed, no make that, amazed, at how it screams. I've been saying for 15 years, the VZ15 and kadrons with small ports are a mean combination. I know, I know... 'what about valvetrain wear, what about lifter bores, what about all that noise?'.... yeah, well , how about them numbers?
I had customers running this cam in street cars @ BH, never had a valvetrain failure.

Not sure about the carbs. All the involvement I had has been over the phone. The jets had been drilled and marking ground off, so John dug thru his stuff and made some work. who knows what
was
in it.
The specs are... VW case, c/w VW crank, VW rods, Vz15 straight up, Cb lifters, Cb CNC 40 x 35 with chamber work, manton tapered pushrods, Vw rockers, swivel feet, 8.4:1, full flow 30mm pump by me, some backyard 4 into 1 header, 009, nothing really magic.

That is truly impressive Jim! Would love to see the dyno graph and see where the motor comes on song. What rpm will she pull?

John said he'd get me the sheet sometime, gotta fix a printer or something. After his driving impressions, he said it comes into its own around 3800 and he took it to 6600. he said it will ride the rear snubbers thru 3rd gear. How much does a 356 glass replica weigh, anyway?
I'd like to see him do this to a real 356B or something. For the amount the Porsche guys spend on machine work alone you could darn near double the power and give them some ulcers on some backroads. Damn VW's
