Awesome! This is something I wanted to do to my 1200cc as I have about 3 motors at home so can rob lots of parts! Is this a standard/stock 1200cc long block? I was told two things that put me off when talking with others about doing this. 1) There are issues with the oil flow on a 1200cc case therefore a 1300cc case (or bigger) are better to use as they have better oil flow. 2) The 1200c crank can only rev to around 4000rpm before it flex's and will either snap or cause serious damage Have you done anything to over come these issues? Or do you just not care Hehe Would love to read more about your build! What turbo/carb you used etc Cheers, J

It used to be a box standard late 1200 so it has the big oilchannels and the 2 relief pistons. I don't know the history of this engine but it fired right up and drove without trouble. Next thing I did was swap the heads for 1300DA heads, ad the 1.1 ratio rockers ,4 in 1 exhaust, 009 dizzy , put on a narrowed doghouse fanshroud with fan and cooler. With the shroud narrowed I could fit 2 36mm dell drla's. This was a great engine, good fueleconomy, responsive and faster then a stock 1600. I also believe that the cranckshaft might be the weak link in all this but I revved the engine unill there was no tomorrow and it still lives. I did give it the single gene berg springs. Next thing on the planning, turbo... First try was just that , a try. The car was slower than before. The turbo was to big and the exhaust piping let of the bit of pressure that could have made it do something. This is the second and more calculated try. The propane will be brought in before the turbo (like drawthrough), but the throttle is behind the turbo (like blowthrough). Hope to go to injection oneday but this will do for now.The plenum is waterjacketed and will be cooled by water going through the vaporiser (vaporisers freeze up when you don't heat them). We will add a coil through the exhaust or a cooler to bring the system in balance. Guess it wil need extra heating though. We'll be racing bugin, das drag day and the two circuit dragdays from keversite.nl in the fall. see you there

Hahaha!! A little harsh maybe but ok "1200 cranks are good to 5,000, mine often sees 5,500rpm.....they snap at anything over 6,000.......but flexing starts as low as 4,000rpm...... (if you flex them too much, metal fatique sets in and it may snap at tick over when you least expect it !!) Bearing life on 1200 cranks often used above 4,500 is very short...expect less than 10,000 miles. The centre main wears on the sides but top to bottom remains untouched......." Yeah so I was 500rpm under. This is from a thread on VZI called HOT 1200 ok so its general rule of thumb. But makes sence to me and its a good read! Depends how lucky you are I guess Cheers, J 2) The 1200c crank can only rev to around 4000rpm before it flex's and will either snap or cause serious damage Have you done anything to over come these issues? This is from a thread on VZI called HOT 1200 Ah, well, if you have read it on another forum, it must be true then.. It must be a 'callook thing' I don't understand... Proof your 'lend' statement is bollocks: 1200 tuning challenge am 1Mei Meeting Hannover germany this year. This turbo 1200 has a stock 1200 case, crank and rods and was tuned by a friend of mine: www.turboboxer.deDas Auto: The engine was restricted because of a limiter set accidently a 6100 rpm, while the engine clearly wanted more... Your were saying?

The turbo comes from the psa group (citroen peugeot) It's the one used on the 1400cc diesels in several of the smaller cars. should be easy to find
The engine in my setup doesn't have a carb. It's liquid propane powered and is fueled by a venturi that's located between the turbo and the airfilter. Throttlebody is after the turbo and is from a bmw motorcycle.
To answer the question coming, yes gas is going through the hot turbo and no it doesn't explode.
see you all this summer
going to

We ran the car at ebi last year with a 1200 with double drla's. At ddd with a try out turbosystem wich was slower then the carb engine. So yes, we we're the slow, crapy car from last year That's when we decided to do it the right way, this way. Come over this summer when you see us, we love the looks of disbelieve

we're still running a standard camshaft.
Now a new one is needed and I thinking what would suit the engine better.
A bit more lift, same duration and bigger lobe center.... Anybody knows something like that or do I have to have a custom one made?
any help appreciated.
How fast can a 1200cc engine go....?
