Okay, maybe a bit cheesy but what about a chat option in the lounge?  like the one in facebook?

Why?  cause facebook and other "social websites" are blocked overhere during workinghours, and the lounge is still okay.  Grin

haha, does facebook have chat these days? i haven't been on there for a while now.

it could be a cool addition, but i think it has implications for the quality on the forum too. though i haven't yet figured out whether that's good or bad. perhaps some of the more irrelevant stuff will be left out, so it could be good.

plus it's a cool feature for those that don't use IM applications either.

We have a chat in our Norwegian vw forum, and we have the opportunity here to, but we think it might overload the server...  it all comes down to $$$ in the end... Undecided

I'd rather not have it. If it's Cal Look, racing or project then there's a forum area for it, if not, theres off topic! Why do we need anything else? Smiley

I think I've seen a option for hosting a chat off site... that way it wouldn't drag down your server. If you want I can check it out.

As Jon points out, we do already have a licenced version of the flashchat, equal to UAC forums chat, but for now we have choosen not to use it.....
That isn't necessarily a permanent decision

The chat room at cal-look.com is always empty. How about having a weekly scheduled chat some place? We used to do that and it worked really well.
