Got a call from Dave Galassi the other day about a little gig he has at his shop in Irwindale.  Hotter the hell, but loaded up the Spy Cam and headed out for some fun and the promise of tire smokin' action.  The guests were a mix of young and old, there were VW's and V8's, a taco cart, BEER, and cool air inside Dave's shop.... did I mention BEER?? Cheesy  Allen Weiss drove his '67 in followed by a bad ass '67(?) Ford 500 that sounded awesome.... then there was the brand new GT40, Lazenby's mile long Chrysler, and numerous other patina'd fixer-uppers.  Good times!! Cool Cool Grin

A nice split window Dave is working on for his friend Russ.  That orange plaid will be on the seats.... can anybody guess what the "necklace" is made of? Cool

Orange plaid... Westfalia upholstery? Thanks for the pictures, Sarge! I really love Allen Wiess' revamped '67. Looks tough.

Sorry, I missed the party! Went to a (new) local VW show less than 30 minutes from home. Between 200 and 250 VWs showed up, including a bunch of rides from Der Blitzkrieg Kafers, based in nearby Long Beach. (That's Pip's Split in the picture, by the way).
The location, overlooking the ocean, was perfect! Temps in the high-70s (27C). The drive home along the ocean was just the best, too.

I wish I could go to the DKK drive on Sunday; but I have another show (Sport Compact, yuk) to cover in San Diego. Have fun guys!

AWESOME, Sarge! Thanks for the killer report as usual.

Not only me... but I'm quite sure that Dave R. will also appreciate THIS picture. That brings back a lot of fond memories. I've always wanted one of those license plate frames. Good eye.

That Ford 500 sounded wicked!!!!  The GT 40 doing a burnout in reverse was crazy too!!!!

It was good we just did solo passes because a couple of times I was using the whole street  Cool

After the fun at Dave's place we all headed over to Irwindale Speedway to watch some roundy round and figure 8 racing.............. what a day  Cheesy

Thanks for the pics, Sarge. It looks like your camera is working well again because most of the pics are straight; not sideways and shit Tongue Grin That 67 Fairlane 500 looks bad and Allens car looks mean too..gotta love spun aluminum wheels. Did anyone get video?

Can't say enough nice stuff about Allen's rig since it was repainted.  Then there's the sound of the 300 "or so" horsepower under the deck lid... Smiley Cool

Excellent report Sarge! Many thanks Wink

I've seen the Fairlane run at Irwindale-- such a cool car...

Fred, spot-on as usual. I spotted the KOB frame right away... sure looks good around a black plate.
