If anyone is interested I will be leaving Phoenix on Thursday morning and heading to Monterey as I was invited to bring my 1958 Toyopet to a show. The show is south of Salinas Calif at Toro park my 58 is the second oldest Toyopet known in the US and the first one will be there as well. Hope to see some of you there I know it is not a VW but I like all type of cars. Here is a picture of it.

    Thanks
    Frenchy

Damn... wish I was going. That is a car lovers dream. I went every year for about 7 years in the 80s and then my wife and I went back 2 years ago.

Make sure you find the "Concourso Italiano."

Frenchy, Neat ride  Cool Cool Cool

I remember those early days of To#¤ta, Datsun and Honda.  Us VW guys use to see them and laugh with a typical comment of "look, there is a pice of JAP junk.  Well the world has changed and I don't think many of us are laughing anymore.  Have a safe trip and a great show.    Grin Grin Grin Grin

Just joking Frenchy... If there ever was a Monterey Historics to attend, it would be this years event. Unfortunately, I have a car to build! Tongue

Frenchy, once again... you've done a spectacular job with a neat old automobile. Very well done. Wish that I could attend... but I'm too busy this weekend.

I am supposed to be going to the historics and to that car show. Work may keep me from doing both. Have a great time if I don't see you.

I took best Japanese car at the show and 4 different  people from magazines and one person from Chicago wants to feature the car in his book. All I can say I had a great time and drove 1675 miles. Drove my Carmel and saw many Ferrari / Porsches / Lambo. People were going crazy when they saw this car they taught it was the coolest car ever.

Well it has come time for me to sell my 1958 Toyopet and moving on to my next project and because I need the room for my NSU to come home and continue on than the Ghia. The Toyopet was sold to a To#¤ta dealer in Puerto Rico and will be displayed in a museum been created for the car. I have another 1959 Toyopet in the back yard which will be in the restoration mode in a couple of years once we move out and have the space to start on it.

I love that beaucoup rare Toyopet. It's a shame you can't share it with more people here in the states, oh well. I like others here have enjoyed the Monterey weekend.
We did the Concours/Races/Auction thing for nineteen years straight up till 96'. Good luck on your new project, though I'd really like to see you do a Traction Avant  Wink
