BUG MAGIK!!! That's Scooter Heaton's car and he still has this car covered up in his shop exactly the way it was back in it's racing day. The two women in the picture are his late wife and his daughter when she was young. Scooter still runs R&S Performance in Orlando FL. Nice guy and very very knowledgeable and experienced in all things air cooled VW. Thanks for posting that picture Nico!! |

I'm betting it's a Thrush muffler bolted to the running board so that Hefler could claim contingency money due to any car that ran a Thrush muffler in competition. Contingency sponsorship is why cars from that era ran so many decals, but other manufacturers decreed you had to run the part to claim any prize money.
