The Orange Crush car was sold in parts back in the early 80s, by a friend of mine and I later bought the parts from him and are now on my Unlimited Street car.

Cool to know that some of it lives on in sprint elsewhere

First post after reading through.
Well at a few races I have seen this car. I have never really spoken until the owner until this past year. He built this car in the early 70's and has been the only one to ever race it. He began his love affair with VW's  after he read a hot rod magazine article in 1969 and then another one on a fast corvair. He put the two together and built this chevy corvair powered chop top named Rumble Bug. It has been racing since the 70's but has NEVER made a successful pass. I believe his best pass to date is a low 14 second run. For over 30 years this man has been trying to get this corvair powered bug down the track but can not make it happen. Wether it is a lack of knowledge, bad parts or extremely bad luck...it just does not work. It is actually a sad story as this man is so very stuck on what he read in that single magazine, he will NOT put a VW motor in this car.
He has recently brought it to maybe 4 races in the past 5 years and that is the MOST I have ever seen this car. I told him that when he wants to sell it, or give up to give me a call. Aside from the chevy motor and big wing, it a period correct original gasser.

I remember that body on the roof of some sort of repair shop in Santa Ana. I first saw it riding my bike on the Santa Ana river trail in the 70's, it was there for years. I last saw it in the 90's , it was just down the street from my shop in Stanton, it was for sale $800 or something like that.  Never saw it as a whole car.  Glad to see it still exists.
