Yeah that's the one, however doesn't look much like that at the moment. Going through a complete rebuild, getting there slowly. Won best Cal Look at Volksworld 98. Your brothers car rocks, great colour!

Thanks for the pics, haven't seen many from back in the day. It will retain a few bits from the past such as interior but want to make it my own Cal Looker. Wink

The running board covers, body coded fender beading, and convertible decklid just tie everything together very nicely.

The decklid is a Sedan 'lid with vents from a later car welded in. I have an NOS Convert decklid that I have had stored away for years - that'll be going on once I get it painted.
Glad you like the way it looks.

That's even cooler. I'm to the point where I'm gonna just have a set of '68 (or whatever other year matches) vents welded into another '67 lid for my car in the future.

Yeah, I see 'em for that price on a regular basis. There's gotta be a cheaper alternative. Thanks for the heads up, though.

Shame we don't live closer together - you could have had the fake lid off this car. But it wouldn't be economical to get it to you.  Sad
Still, if you need measurements I can always lay some card over the NOS one and mark it out for you.

Isn't that '70 (at least for Euro models)? Anyway the vents are not the same in shape.

The sedan vents are 5mm shorter, but really you'd never notice once it's on the car.

Not yet, I've got the discs painted up and need to order the studs, then I've got to measure things up and order tyres for the rear. All the wheels are painted and detailed and ready to go. I've got the caps now. Just got to order the lug nuts and, as Tony Soprano would say - Badda-Bing!

Yesterday I drove in the pouring rain down to Funkenblitz to work out what tyres I could run on the Gas Burners I will be fitting. I was not sure what clearances would be like with the Kerscher rear disc set up - would I need spacers? Well thanks to fellow JG54 Greenhearts member, Max Jamieson who had a set of Gas Burners with tyres fitted we were able to fit the  5 x 130 discs to one side and bolt his wheels on. The results could not have been better - I can get a 205/70 tyre on the rear and the front wheels don't foul the callipers, which is a problem Max had with his wheels on his car.
I far prefer the way the car looks on Gas Burners - but it'll look even better when the actual wheels are on as they have been powder coated in metallic grey and will work far better than black against the white paint work.
The other job we did was to remove the wiper motor and mig and reshape the spindles as they had wear and the wipers went floppy on the drive down.
I'd really like to thank Max, Alex Taylor and Pete Roberts  - it was a great day and I came away knowing that I didn't need short axles and what tyre sizes I could run with.

Enjoy the pics.

Don't worry, it's all in hand. The original beam is being reworked by Alex Taylor of Defcon 3 right now. The beam on the car is a Puma beam and is rock-solid. It is going as soon as Alex has done his stuff.

Oh, and on the way home the speedo clicked over to 30,000! I was watching and waiting for it to happen and as it was a on a fast, busy road it was really dodgy pulling to the side to take a quick photo on my iPhone.
Still, it had to be done as this will never happen again!
