Well, I thought I could show some of my work with my 1951 split bug. I have been in to Volkswagen for more then 20 years and have always wanted to build some kind of "outlaw cal-look of my own". I have collected parts for many years for this project and had started with a ghia as a project. Anyway, at the same time I felt bored with rust welding a 1951 split bug come up that was supposed to me "almost" rust free.

I sold the ghia, kept the good parts, and bought the split. I took the body off the pan and started to work with it. There where of course a lot more rust then I supposed, but I decided to keep this car, I was in love.

After a winter of welding, the car was ready to send to the body shop. I had also raised the floor above the transmission since I am going to use a mendeola that are 1" raised it will need a lot of space.

While the body was at the paint shop I finnished the pan. Narrowed frontbeam with NEAL discs/wilwood calipers. JAMAR discs in back.

The engine for this project is bought on this forum from Beetle Bug. And old swedish race engine built by JPM and Eero Antilla. 2386 dynoed to 286hp.

Here are some pics of how it looks today. Excuse for my bad english, but I thought it would be fun to show you guys what´s going on far up north in Sweden!

Have a nice day/stefan gillblad, sweden

Thanks for the positive feedback! Unfortunatily I wont make it to SCC this year cause of a wedding (and they didn't wont to move the wedding to Gardermoen ...). Anyway, have started to prepare the wiring of the electrics and some other small stuff before I go the the mountains for some skiing for a week!

Dam man, sorry to hear about your lack of inspiration. I know it can be quite hard when it is 15 - 20 below 0 outside. Looks like you have you skis ready for some fun action. Enjoy and turn you focus toward the car when it is a little warmer outside.
