Uhhh...Volkswagen has no bearing on who says any of its trademarked words. It's part of the Fair Use Doctrine, the same principle that lets news organizations use the brand name in the course of their work. Otherwise companies like BP would invoke a no-name mandate whenever its wells fail and fill the Gulf of Mexico with tar balls. Would be convenient, no?

Where Volkswagen draws the distinction is when other parties use the brand name to promote their own business (i.e. naming your shop with the maker's trademarked words). Shops can advertise that they repair or sell parts for Volkswagens (and Saabs and Chevrolets and whatever) but can't use any of the trademarked words (Clem's VW Repair for example) in their business names or use the makers' logos in their advertisements without Volkswagen's consent.

This is a far simpler case, though. People mispronounce Volkswagen (or library or nuclear or croissant or Porsche) largely because they're mouth-breathing idiots. The Pawnstars cast is a great example. The desert does weird shit to peoples' brains. And I know firsthand; I did 20 years in that godforsaken valley (I'm from Vegas; what's your excuse?).

I really don't see how it could either. Nor could I see how Volkswagen could suffer if an independent shop used an image of a vehicle that has a giant Volkswagen logo as part of its nose design (Wolfgang Intl?). I mean Volkswagen put it there in the first place! But Volkswagen has a legal team directing in. Which raises another issue: The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers.

I love the technology, but I can not support that company. I could understand VW's angle if they supported the owners of their classic cars (like MB does), but far as I can tell, they'd rather see the aircooled cars disappear.

I knew about Andreas, but not so much about VW Classics. If it is operated the same way as the MB parts is (with high quality parts available from your local dealer) I would be very impressed.
As far as the Honda quip... I work on all types of cars every day, and in my humble opinion, on average the Japanese cars are screwed together much simpler, and better than the ones from Germany.

4 Weber 48IDA carburetors. Sand cast aluminum serial numbered. Sat in a garage for the last 40 years. Purchased for a V8 project that was never completed. Have the original open ball bearing units on the throttle shafts with the leather sealing washer/spring assemblies.
