1.   Equip my car with a braking system I can trust and that matches the motor and my driving habits. Never happen.
2.   Build an SPG 82 crank motor just for the hell of it
3.   Do a multi-month road trip in my '67 with my sons, throughout California, Oregon and Washington, staying off freeways as much as possible. Try and visit all of the smaller, funky state parks and historic sites. Think Huell Howser  in a hot rod VW. And live to write about it.
4.   Drive a 9500rpm street car, at least for a few days. Hours?
5.   Build an 88 x 78 motor with mid 1970’s technology (at the latest). VW casting heads, stock rockers, mag, 48’s and huge flycuts. Nothing more.
6.   Stick big Type 4 48IDA motor in an India Red 356 sunroof coupe w/ American mags
7.   Build a 1971 Kombi Bus with 300hp turbo motor that lives just for road trips
8.   Build late model sedan with 901 trans, driveable 220hp, 7R alloys, discs all around and drive the tires off of it
9.   Build the ultimate java green ’67 sedan “pre Cal Look” car, stock height, real BRMs, Zenith 1700, Anchor headers…. The works. Sarge would have to sign off, of course.
10.   Dry garage floor.

Good thread. Here are mine in no particular order:

-Paint my own car
-Build a road race beetle (mid-sixties body, IRS pan)
-Build a 2165
-Build an old speed 36hp engine
-Go to Bad Camberg or Hessich Oldendorf
-Visit the Wolfsburg museum (anything European and VW related)
-Race my car at the Bonneville salt flats(just for fun)
-Build some craigslist-parts engines, take them to Sac BOR and blow 'em up on the strip.
-Restore my car old speed style/maybe cal-look
-Build a speedster replica(1600, disk brakes, drive-ability is KEY)

Fun thread Jim!   Grin   Here's mine:

1.  Build a California Sting or Mean Machine drag ghia
2.  To get my Ghia into the 11's with its 2332 NA engine - no adders
3.  To build an old-school 78x92 engine with a magneto (like the Wayne Davis combo but with my Lonnie Reed Wedgies)
4.  Build myself a Berg 5 bus box
5.  acquire and install a complete porsche disc brake/944 set up for my Single Cab
6.  learn to paint (well) my own VW's
7.  Cruise around Door County in my Thing, top down, checking out the Light Houses
8.  find that run-down barn that is holding that split window with original BRM's that the owner just wants "gone". Cheesy
9.  build a cal-look early vert
10.  Build a turbo set up for the Ghia to run a 10

I'm doing my bucket list NOW -- of course I'm older than chit anyway LOL

1. Building my '56 oval with the turbo 2919 (wanted a 3 liter -- but this close enuff LOL)
2. I've drove the keys too many times (lived there for over a year)
3. Going to the salt this year and going to flog the shit out of Ovalholio (really would like to get the 150 club, but just being there will be cool)
4. Got the dry floor in the garage -- just wish it was heated so it doesn't hurt so bad when I try to get up LOL
5. Going to Paris with the wife in Sept. maybe another trip to Italy next year (sorry -- will have to rent a VW there so that it belongs on this list LOL)
6. Hit the freaking lottery for the BIG bucks so I can buy a really bitchin split -- then piss everyone off and promod it LOL

1: a bigger engine for the notchback so it's ready for some serious roadtrips
2: do a roadtrip every year, just a few friends away for a day or 3, no wifes, no kids, one person in car, a few cars and communicate with oldskool cb's, no plan, just follow the road and see where it takes us.
3: i really want to get to bug in or the classic, low budget, I was thinking about a cheap couch surf program with someone who wants to visit EBI for example.
4: keep the spirit alive and keep my cars on the road, every year there seems to be new laws to diss on our cars...  Angry

1. Get my orange '66 Call Look VW Bug back.
2. Go skydiving.
3. Build a swimming pool with orange tiles in my backyard for me, my friends, and our skateboards.
4. Surf and skateboard bowls/pools with my sons and their kids, one day.

I was never good at math, so four it is.

1. Finish my car the way I want it.
2. Build a hot-rod 911 (sorry)
3. Drive to the south of France in my car…
4. Drive the USA from coast-to-coast, but preferably in one of John Lazenby's Chryslers
5. Have a garage/workshop of my own again
6. Drag race a Beetle at the newly re-opened OCIR (if only…)
7. Write the definitive book on VW gassers
8. Go cruising with my DKP buddies – in Europe!
9. Build a 150hp 36-horse engine
10. Throw away all the stupid MSD crap…

1. Drive my '67 to California and go to Nick's, Bug-In, drive up the PCH, and just enjoy driving it in California for a couple weeks.
2. Re-do the body and paint on my bug so that it's dead-nuts perfect.
3. Build a drag bug and go to as many races as possible for a couple seasons.
4. Go to the European Bug-In
5. Go to the Wolfberg museum
6. Stumble onto to a really cool barn find early bug in great shape. Preferably a '51 ragtop with crotch coolers. And then slam it on early Fuchs.
7. Build a traditional Cal looker with only period correct parts.
8. Get a late model bug and build it into a reliable monster with a 5 speed, huge discs brakes, and an EFI turbo engine. Probably a built Subaru STI engine.
9. Restore a '67 to perfect stock condition
10. Fly to Europe and buy some kind of old VW and spend a couple months driving around before shipping it back to the states.

There are so many cool/interesting/scenic drives both US and Europe that are on my list, like Targa Florio, Mille Miglia routes, old abandon race tracks (got unbelievable kicks at Reims couple of years ago), PCH, drive to Key West, route 66 (or whatever remains of it), just looking at US map there are so many places I've read about that would be cool to visit all over the country (apart perhaps from some Northern Mid-Western states).

The only real VW-point in my list at the moment is:

1. Build my first proper Cal Look car.

2. paint and install basic gray interior in my '70 Bug.
