Andy, you may want to fit a filler flap in the bonnet! It's a proper arse opening a flip front just to check the fuel level, and at some point you won't bother because you "know" there's plenty in. That'll be the pass you run out of fuel mid-track - ask me how I know... Embarrassed

so i got my arse into gear this morning and finsihed tigging up the rear end as the new turbo stuff comes the end of the week and the engine should be here the week afetr so i can get going on some interesting stuff

so dropped of the rear end



welded it all back up and fitted it all back again







already for the engine to arrive now and get making the header and exhaust Smiley

small update picked up my oil cooler rads to test fit they have special core made at 45deg so i can put them in the rasied floor of the car Smiley

how long do you imagine the motor is going to run for in one go?

Will you have a thermostat on the oil coolers? As i think at the track getting Heat into the oil is going to be the hardest part.

i cant imagine the motor will run for long and yes i will be fitting a stat. I will be preheating the oil with a sump heater to bring it up to 90 degC before engine start up but i guess that will soon drop off if stood in the fire uplane for long, i did make some 12v heaters that worked well so i may fit those

I've been following along and everything looks great!
I do have an observation. I'd really like to see some additional gusseting on the forward suspension mounts on the chassis. You're going to be putting a lot of power through those, and the entire forward force of the driving wheels will be pushing forward at those points. They are under a lot of stress. Try to visualize the direction of force applied at those points and add some reinforcing accordingly.

Yes. Personally, I'd like to see some additional gusseting forward. If you imagine all that forward force pushing your car though those mounts, you could see that those little tabs could pull right off the tube. That wouldn't be a very pretty thing.

So the motor gets shipped tmw can't wait for it been waiting since August, the header size outcome it 2" I was hoping the turbo stuff would be here this week but tial have a back log on housings so looks like next week

I've just asked the question so lets see what comes back I don't want to waste my time building a header that's too small I do trust a 100% the person that told me to use this size but a second opinion can't hurt I guess

That sounds more like what I would use,cool you got the correct info in the end,lesson here is only the engine builder can truely know what the best intake and exhaust solutions are Wink

Just for your info,I dont have any oil cooler on the new car,I heat the oil up in the pits,but generally it is cooler after a run than with the heater plugged in.I have driven it about 15mins on the road with no oil or engine cooling issues with alcohol based fuel

I have a cooler on the old car and it did need it after about 10miles or so in the heat of vegas or So cal in summer,but i really think you wont need them unless you try to go further than driving it to the track? Grin

keep it so you can get into the top of the motor as fast as posible, and un-cap the rods.

You'll need to be checking the state of the bearings after each meeting.

I can be into my rod bearings within 45 mins. and I find that a pain. if i didnt have to unclip the turbo and chute bracket i'd be all done in 30 mins, ready to put it back together.

Hi it's going to be a meth engine and I will need a lot of it   Cry so a mech pump can flow a lot of fuel and the electric ones are £ compared

A mechanical pump doesn't use that much power. The advantage is that output goes up with rpm. You can probably use smaller injectors that you would with an electric pump because the fuel pressure can be higher at higher rpm

When we went to mechanical injection a few years back, we didn't see a loss of performance because the pump was driven off the motor. We actually saw better performance because of the increase in bottom end torque that methanol makes.

I'm not sure I got it from Pauter mario knows the spec so I hope so lol
