Lanny's '67: very nice car, and done right!

I'm surprised how little "press" Lanny's '67 has received here......so I'll do my part.
One of my favorites to ever show up at a VW show. Very subtle and tasteful. Of course, I'm partial to '67's (sorry Bill
), and even more so, '67's with stock bumpers. I spent some time on my hands and knees (no wise cracks Sheep, John, Sarge...!) looking under the car....this car is sano. Everything has a business-like look, not flash. I didn't get much time to talk to Lanny about the car, and would love to know more about it. Glad to see the engine looks like a VW engine. Upholstery work, stance, paint, overall finish....all first class and right on.
Lanny, how about some details you'd like to share about the car?
Thanks,
Jim

I was lucky enough to receive a number of build up pics from Lanny of the 67, the work, attention to detail and finish looks superb! Sepia brown 67 with hot IDA motor - dream car for me!
Nice one Lanny, top car, top bloke, top t-shirt!

It has a very "business" look to the motor. Simple, clean, not over done. Mechanical. I like this car too, though I think it should lose the bumpers.

Lanny's car is hard core...just like he is. I visited Allen Wiess a week ago before the Classic. Lanny had just arrived with his friend Rob at Allen's after towing from Canada the last couple of days (another story here). When I came by, he had the car's back end up on jack stands and was in the middle of re-setting the torsion bars to get just the right look! Needless to say, I was impressed. You've got to be VW "crazy" to put yourself through that BS!

Wow! Thanks for all the kind words. I've owned the car for 14 years and this is its second build after a bad front end hit 2 years ago. I tore the car completely down, built a new pan etc, every nut and bolt. Specs are;
2275 CC, K-Roc/CB Elim 2000 heads w. Chev valves(46X38),9.5 CR, CB 2295 cam etc. Although you can't tell by the modded Hurst shifter, it's running a Berg 5 with all the tricks. I runs low 12's at 108-109 MPH on PUMP GAS.
The day after the sunday show, I put the car seat in and took the wife and toddler cruising around Hollywood, up Laurel Canyon, what a blast. Thanks again.

I'm not a huge fan of the '67 (let the stoning begin ...), but in this case I would love to have that car (white
or
brown) in my garage !
Way to go Lanny, another exceptional build and a well deserved DKP trophy to display proudly !

DB, I too like the '58.... well, except for those droopy headlights, fat trim, goofy door handles and pointy deck lid. Nice.

I agree. I reckon there's nothing to beat a '73 Super Beetle on Turbovanes with Creative Car Craft fenders... like the one in Deano's 'secret' garage... Even nicer.

Lanny's car rocks & he's a heck of a cool guy, too!
Unlike previous years, there wasn't too much discussion about who should get the DKP trophy at the Pre-Classic Cruise Night... Everybody liked his car!
