Slowly slowly progress.
Double Blue top Facet pumps.
Oberg large prefilter
AND a real AN8 connection in the tank.
Not a fake adaptor with a tiny hole in the bottom.
Then I drilled out 11 mm and welded on a large hole connector.

The ARP bolts are once again upgraded from ARP 2000 to ARP 3,5 and now the best Carillo replacement to ARP 625Plus.
Best option if you (I) insist on running cheap H profile rods.
Carillo or Pauter would have been better.

Engine is taking shape.
All small details are taking a lot of time but I enjoy it.
The CF fan housing had to be swapped for my regular one, as I needed to modify it a lot to fit the Engine Plus heads.
Next week it is time for final assembly.

Love my ring gap grinder.
Square nice grinding and pretty easy to handle.

Do NOT love ring locks. Best for duarbility but these were 10X more difficult than the spirolocks.
Mahle has nice and easy one but JE made it very tough.

Plus 1. 0 and 1.2 mm rings are pretty difficult to hande with the ring compressor.
I have to build myself a new ring compressor tool. later......

Plenty to go but it is still a nice milestone.

Details Details
It really takes time but that is no surprise.
Anyway, rear cover plate, few more oil lines and electricla connections, then I will fire it up prior to doing interior with insulation and rugs....plus more.

Today I made a "redneck" oil primer.
Now it did work although the TIV pump would not be fully tight.
I got 20 psi directly with a hand drill.

Connected a gauge temporaily right by the engine so I could see it better.

If that was the case you'd be driving your oil pump with a small block, not a drill.  Wink

I know, a lot of engine pictures and little action.
I was asked recently if I was not going to start soon...... no hurry. This time it is different. I will put almost all things in place prior to pushing the button.
Today an idea came true. 4 X vacuum gauges mounted in the engine bay.
Ahh, plus my remote starter button.

All well except my idea about the four gauges. Or I mean windshieldwipers...kind off....like.

you might need a dampener on the vac line, my carb balencer uses them, think there just needle valves, but without them it'll be all over the place  Grin

Thanks Andy!  You give me hope.
I had just told myself to connect them all together and just look pretty but now I am interested again. So you mean that by just restricting (adjustable needle) in the line, it might work?
You are right, there has to be some way. I was initially thinking more of a small chamber that blances out the pulse.
Now this is not main focus right now. I can get her to run pretty good just by ear, for the time being.

Frederic - just install a small orfice, for example an idle jet - in every vacuum line close to the manifold and it will be ok (it surely will pulse but not like this). In my "carb tune" vaccum carb synchro tool the jet size is less then 1mm.

Excellent! I will try. I have a bunch of old small N2O nozzles lying around. Will most likely do.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/291228901400?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108

thats like the one i have, see the T pieces, with the knob on top, thats just a variable restricter, with it wound out, the needle is all over the shop (like your video) you wind it in so it settles, but not so much its locked off. if that makes sense?

Should work fine once sorted, the jet idea sounds like it will work fine also! as the the brass barb on the gauge has a hole about the size of a pin in it also.

if your jet idea doesn't work, i'm pretty sure you can buy those little valves for fish tanks, to control the flow of air going into those bubble stones (airstone) if you have a fish shop near to you....

Low RPM brag?
16 mm lift and top duration but still 500-600 RPM with response.
45F10 idle jet surprised me. 55F10 was way too rich.
Now pretty responsive on the needle jets with approx 1/2 turn open.
Maybe the JPM Raptor venturi rings makes it get that extra strong signal?

By the way. Made some 1 mm nozzles for the vacuum meters but they still do the windshield wiper dance.
I will try the aquarium restrictor trick later.

I could do 500rpms no problem with stock ida's. Lift 16mm+ scat c85 cam. Now with injection I could go lower;p

Try smaller jets but if these vacuum gauges are very sensitive then they will dance - vacuum pulsation in the intake of such engine is huge.

Hello Marcel,
I would call the Stellringe a shaft locking collar. Now where and why to use that with a longer screw, I do not understand?
Are you referring in some way to my idling or the vacuum gauges?
greeting to you too Marcel!

OK, cool!  I thought it was pretty nice and I do not recall other than almost stock engines tick away  so comfortably like a 10 liter diesel.

yeah i think you wanna be a fair bit smaller then 1mm, or use the restrictor thing Smiley my balancers use both, and are all over the shop till i wind in the "dampeners"

@Marcel, now I got it!
With the help of andy198712.  A small lockring with a longer screw to clamp the hose. YEAHH!  I have small "Stellringe" in some of my boxes and probably a longer M3 screw to make it reach.
In fact I have Chemical Engineering schooling and I should have thought about labclamps.

Hi!

Yes, for the vacuum meters, they are very small and you can mount them on the hose close to the gauges.

Nice greetings!

My cockpit....less guessing.
No idea if it makes it quicker but hopefully more reliable. Time will tell.

Wideband lambda with analog instrument, revs, shiftlight, broadband filtered Knock sensor with profile screen and CHT, oil temp......almost forhot, speed to 160 km/h.
