Here's a fresh one from the vault. Bug-In 3, October 1969. Bill Boll's Manx Tow'd and Don Crane's '67 in the lanes. Notice the couple in the purple shirts? That's Dean and Loyal Lowry!

Here is the link, Dean.

Monkiboy, the ned bug I was involved in a horrible crash shortly after it was built, if I remember my useless drag VW trivia correctly. Grin If that is the case there is no way that the beetle I posted is the original. Furthermore it was common for a car owner of any type to do a second incarnation, no pun intended, when a drag car was crashed.

Same photo from  the Bug-In 3 staging lanes.... only cropped to the right. Here we see Mike Mahaffey's (then) brown Split, and you can barely spot Mike on the far edge of the photo....

Fabs, good eye on that one. I would never figured that one out! The entire photo is so large, I could not post it big enough to see all the cool cars in the lanes.

Here is the entire shot (less the area above the fence line), so you can get an idea of who and what was there.

great pic, gives a real feel to what it must have been like. Don Crane's car will always be one of my favorites, fell in love with it when I first saw pics 20 some odd years ago.
Isn't that same pic in KS' first California Look book from 1995?
