Sneak Peak: 1.st step from "Resto to Cal-look" Style is taken..!

Hi
Now it finally came to that day, where I took the step from Resto to a more Cal-look style...!
I have been around for many diffent meetings in my 15 years vw life, but now I'm just more and more hooked on the vw Dragrace thing
So my plan is that I will try to sell the car, and I have tons of pictures, but only as Resto-style...!
Now I can take some more later on, when the car is more like cal-look.
So then the buyer can decide which style he wants.
This has been my plans for a long time, but there was just something about the old style that just kept hanging on to the car
1.st step was:
Ass Up, nose Down.
Fenderskirts came of.
2.nd step will be:
205/70-15" (already bought)
Porsche magnesium nuts (already bought)
Porsche center caps rear (already bought)
Original mirrors instead of Albert mirrors. (still have them)
Original front beam, but still with dropped spindles. (still have it)
Maybe T-bars (only if I the exhaust will be changed)
Full Auto-meter gauge setup.
Maybe a little bit higher front rear, I will wait and see when the new rear tires will be mounted.
Enjoy the pictures

Leave the bumpers on... raise the front a little, lose the albert mirrors & put on the stock width beam & it will look cool.

I agree with the others. Narrowed beams make it look, ride and handle like a tricycle. Needs a very healthy dose of horsepower too.

Wow - itīs quite an other car! Looks very clean. I would keep the bumpers but I wouldnīt use those autometer gauges you are planning to install.
BTW: it was a very nice car as a Resto Looker as well! The only thing I didnīt like that much were the fender skirts.

Thanks Guys..!
I can hear that I'm on the right way
The narrowed front beam and Albert Mirrors will come of soon thats for sure.
About the bumpers, I think they still will be on the car, because the chrome is just so nice on them, and a split bumper is really nice
BABOON :I still don't know about SCC'07 or DDD#5 ..?? We bought a old house, May this year, and it need some of my attention before the winter sets in.
But I will try to get the car ready, so then I can take it from there
Tob/DFLi: I know what you mean about the Fenderskirts, but then again this is one of the things that makes the car it a little more unique.
Trond Dahl: Thanks
stealth67vw:Yeah 200+ hp IDA engine would most certainly help
Russell Ritchie: That car rocks, why not keep it as it's....! You already got an other really really nice blue Cal-look split
but keep us posted when ready
Bill Schwimmer: Keep your eyes open here on this site dude
speedwell:Maybe I'm on the way on to the DARK-side, but I dig both sides so I hope I don't disappoint you to much, Resto is still in my veins also

hey, I have the ultra vw issue where your car is featured in. I've read the article many times because I really liked your car even as a resto cal looker. But I really like the cal look changes on the car as well. Go for it, make it happen! Do not loose the bumpers, they are looking good. It could be a nice cal looker with some special unique features on it: the antenna in the middle of the window, etc... I like it! Don't forget a big engine as well.

I like the resto cal because I started with this style on my car
, and one does not disavow these origins, the resto cal in the spirit of your car always like to me as well as the german folks cars

Hi
No not at all
I need to step up with my garage build project, and then a new car will follow
I totally lost the good vw feeling last year, when the car was damage in the garage, and then new years night some stupid f..king kids tried to set it on fire
but now I'm almost back on my vw plans, I have just made a small turn in my life about vw's - need to have the ground basic ready first, It's kind of sad having a nice car like the split and then put it in a very very bad garage, right.
I think the split should stay more or less as it's, I have had many thoughts about change it to a race car, but I came to this conclusion, that it was a shame to use a nice car like this.
Then better pass it on, though I would love to keep it also, but lifes goes on right.
Some small videos from the repaint 2008 I made for the new owner - he got the car 9.th july:

Herr Schwimmer beat me to it. Couldn't have said it better. That's going to be a great looking car. Am I mistaken, or is the car in the pictures sold now? If so, hopefully, the new owner(s) will follow the above advice.
This is one cool engine!
