Just been perving your build photo's and noticed this! Make sure you use nyloc nuts, rather than normal nuts as they have a tendency to vibrate loose! Especially in cars with solid gearbox mounts! I know! All the bolts actually fell out on my gearbox mount during a run!! Dude

Hi Steve/Adelle. Looking absolutely fab guys! Love the work Just an observation... Are the button head Allen screws you are using on the spring plates and torsion bar end caps stainless steel? If so, they are not rated for suspension use and could very likely shear! Little bit difficult to see whether they are stainless from your pix, but they need to be 12.9 grade tensile steel. Stainless is a big no-no for any suspension component that sees high load forces as it is quite brittle. Keep up the superb work

The bolts are grade 8.8 which I thought would be suitable?! The caliper bolts are what's supplied by Strange so there all good!

8.8s are just general mid-tensile (still called high-tensile, though...) bolts for general automotive applications. All suspension components that see shear loadings require 12.9 grade bolts. All original VW bolts that were used for suspension parts are 12.9 grade. Even the bolts that hold the front axle to the frame head are 12.9. Caliper bolts must be this grade, too, as pointed out in an above post. 8.8 wont cut the mustard on your race car. They may well work fine for a while, but there is the underlying factor that they could shear, as they are not up to the job. I realise many people bolt up their suspension with nice shiny 8.8s thinking they are doing the car a favour, but the reality is that it is dangerous in the long run. Best to be on the safe side guys
