Yes I am sorry about that.It is because I quit on the site where the pics where hosted.

Finished the fuelline today all that's left is to test it for leaks.


Also the gearbox is all bolted up in the car.

Because I narrowed the rear the driveshafts where too long.Since I couldn't find any aftermarket shafts of the correct lenght I had the wizzard shorten them for me.

What is involved in adapting the Renault trans for use in a VW ?
Aside from mounts and adapting the Bus bellhousing.

They sound reasonably strong, but are not popular here in north America.

I've seen this done on driveshafts on rally cars (old escorts!) and also on V8 propshafts but never in VW circles - seeing as how I'm looking at buying some shorter IRS driveshafts its piqued my interest! what are peoples opinions on doing this? How was it done Michael, are they notched and welded underneath the sleeve, then the sleeve welded over the top or?Huh Do you need to have them balanced or checked for runout?

Yes they are done the way you discribe.
I can have a set custom made but it will cost 400,00 euro.

I did that on an IRS convertion I made up for a mate's 62 panel van , saw it at a show this year still wearing the same shorted shafts .
It had a 1835 motor bolted up to a 1600 GT box , He had a bit of a led right foot  Roll Eyes I did it over 15 years ago  Wink

Made some hardlines for the brakes.It is really anoying how many types of threads there are took me 2 nights on the web to figure out the flare nuts aren't 3/8 npt but 3/8 unf. Huh

I don't know for sure but I think it won't be a problem because it is all filled with fluid. ;)Maybe someone else knows for sure.

You might have a problem bleeding the brakes.  The thread for 3/16" inverted flare, is 3/8"-24.....maybe that's where you got crossed up.  3/16" inverted flare is for 3/16" OD tubing.  Why didn't you keep the fittings metric??  Just use the correct 10mmx1.0 tube nuts, and flare a bubble flare.   Grin

The handbrake has a 7/16" inlet and a 3/8" outlet.I tried to use a metric inverted flare but it didn"t fit that's when I found out it wasn't metric Wink

7/16"-24 would be the thread size, used for 1/4" tubing.
 If you ever need metric tube nuts, I carry them in stock @ work.  I have 10mmx1.0, 10mmx1.25, 10mmx1.5, & 12mmx1.0.   Wink

Received a package from sweden today,thanks Johannes.
It is a set of Jpm springs.
They can handle 16 mm of lift and have at 2mm before coilbind approx 370lbs.


Will see if that's enough.

As being impatient I don't want to wait for people making parts for me.I have been waiting for a set of plastic headlight lenses for 3 months so now I decided to give it a try myself instead of wait a few more months.

I took a original lens and glued it on a piece of wood.I then made a surround on the piece of wood and filled it with pouring plaster.
I will let it dry till tomorrow and then I will get the wood form the plaster and I will have a mould hopefully.

I bought some 0.75mm clear polycarbonate and i plan on using a paintstripper to heat the poly and let it take the form of the mould.

Will see if it works on monday if not more waiting for parts Wink
