I had a dual point once, sold it on ebay. Ive heard they arent really neccessary, more complexity for zero benifit. Slinger has the Treuhaft 010 on his single cab, with a Mallory ignition conversion. It works great, but it would be much less hassle to get a brand new distributor and put an old badge on it. No one will ever know your secret, and Ill take it to the grave with me

alright well, i'd have to see who can lock out my 009. then i'll run a bosch red coil. and get an MSD 6A(L) at a later stage. but i need to lock out my 009 because of the revs going over 6,000 right? thanks for the input harry, didn't know that's what you think about it

And don`t forget the BIG advantage of the LOOK with a 010/019 But be carefull if you go with an 019 and one spring when you set the ignition. As you see the 019 begins to advance before 1000 U/min. So a static ignition set would be best. And even check the totall advance when engine is running on higher rpm`s allways a point that is often missed. On my second car, I really enjoyed my .019. And you're right about the static ignition set. The only way I ever set mine.

well, got all those few parts a few days ago. sent out my pulley, crank, flywheel and kennedy plate to get it all balanced (and flywheel lightened to about 11.5 to 12lbs)
and i had a good chat about my parts etc. what are the opinions on a 30mm oil pump? i was told that it'll be too much, the relief on the pump cover will be openend at all times and the oil cooler in the shroud won't get any oil because all the oil will be pumped out (full flow). this is with 15w40 oil which i'm planning to use. and the oil pressure will exceed 5 bar (80psi) meaning i'll have to get a new guage too.
anyway, what are the opinions? apparently i would've been better off with a 26mm...

Diederick the 30mm pump will work I have run a 30mm pump in every engine over 1600cc since 1990 I don't use bypass covers. I wouldn't have set your engine up as a unit with a 30mm if it would not have worked. (that case ran a 30 for 17 years, why change something that worked?)

3 queries popped up today.
- what's the general opinion on aftermarket 36hp shrouds? i prefer the look, and i'd need to mod my VW doghouse to a 181 to use it. i know bugpack sell 36hp shrouds? but those don't have provision for heater flaps etc, right?
- what kind of spark plugs should i use with my 043 heads? there's short and long reach and W7 and W8...
- does the use of an MSD 6AL make a pertronix kit for my 009 redundant?

Hi Diederick, 043s orig. came with short spark plugs.I even have 043s (sadly with stock valves and have good experience with the Bosch W7AC Sparks. So one point colder than the orig W8AC sparks. I once tryed similar NGK but had problems with them... Greetz !

Hi Diederick, A few years ago I swapped my stock doghouse cooler to an aftermaket 36hp one... It was on a 1835 that performed great, sadly after installing the aftermarket cooler it became to warm on the highway and toasted the engine Jelle
