Thanks guys! Smiley Here is how I modified a 65-66 decklid latch to prop the bottom of the '67 lid slightly. Looks like a factory piece because it is Smiley

Here's when we decided the center of the dash was a bit too bare with only the 3 gauges. A friend was cutting up a '72 911 (same guy who traded us the 7" cookie cutters for his 6's), so I asked him nicely for the clock section, and he cut it out for us.

I borrowed the combi gauge to fill the hole and make sure nothing distorted while welding. We of course have a clock in there now, from another friend with another '72 911. He unfortunatly didn't live to see this project finished Cry

Fast forward a bit. To keep the Porsche theme going, we sourced a Durant side mirror. They were fitted to 356C's and early 911/912's.

One day in the shop there was an '86 911 that was backdated to look like a '73 Carrera RS. Sweet car. It would have been great if I knew how to take a good picture!

The rear "luggage deposit". In the late 60's, early 70's, an option was available for 911's that deleted the rear seat with a box. This started out like that, but ended up as you see it here. To look "correct" it should also have a hinged door on each side, but I screwed up so I ended up skipping them for now Wink After this pic was taken I added the Porsche footman loops to the front side of the box for luggage straps (which still need to be made Roll Eyes) And yes, that's an EMPI door pull on the top, there's another one on the underside Wink

The seats. I didn't like how the other 914 seats I've seen without headrests looked. They looked like someone chopped off the headrests! So, after I lopped the tops off, I continued the roll from the sides up and around the top. Now they look like they came that way, and they look almost nothing like a 914 seat, which I love because those things are ugly! Cheesy

Up to this point I handled the entire interior myself. But the seats were a little beyond my skill level, so my boss helped out by telling me what to do Wink

The steering wheel!! The wheel we started with would have been perfect for the car we originally planned; a "bolt on" Cal Looker. But as the project progressed, it really wasn't doing it for me anymore. I wanted to do something Porsche, but I really don't like those butterfly 4 spoke wheels! I happened to be looking through an issue of Excellence over a year ago, and saw something that stopped me dead in my tracks. A late 60's Porsche 911R wheel. Now the hard part: convincing AssHull that this is a great idea, especially difficult since it was my idea he purchase the last wheel! Not to mention it isn't exactly cheap! Then one day my window of opportunity opened Smiley He said the steering wheel wasn't really doing it for him anymore, either Grin A big, expensive, smile came to my face and I showed him what I had found. He agreed, and a year later I finally had him totally convinced Smiley It is an exact reproduction, and uses an actual 3 prong center cap as a horn push, which of course I had the top polished to match the center caps on the wheels, as well as the silver button gauges. I LOVE IT!

In 1970, Porsche expanded the 2.0 engine into 2.2 liters. Porsche was so proud of this fact that they came up with a decal that proclaimed this displacement on the rear window. I took that, and made it Volkswagen. I had a friend draw up a VW engine, another friend clean up the image on a computer, and yet another friend to make the decal. This one is just a prototype, the real one will stick to the inside, and be available in any displacement figure you'd like (yes, I'm selling them).

That's it for now, I'll try and get some real (not cell!) pictures up soon Smiley

P.s. the decklid prop doesn't look like it'll open the decklid much, or did you mount it on some tubes?

AssHull's wife is an aspiring photographer, so I'm sure she will step up and fill the void for quality pictures.

No the decklid prop doesn't open it up much, just a little bit Wink At the OCTO show last weekend we scored an original '67 'vert lid, it's at the body shop now and will hopefully be on the car soon. Although I do like the clean look of the non vented sedan lid, the motor will need the extra cooling. I do have another idea I'd like to implement for the decklid in the future, but I'll ned an expert metal man for the task.


I've gotta say, one of my favorite features on this car is the twin rocker style dome lights. At night with the sunroof open and both lights on, the interior just GLOWS Smiley

Nice touch, Zach. Always dug on the rocker Type 3 dome lights. Never thought to use 'em on a Type 1.
