Why would anyone spend a ton of money on a nice Cal Look VW, then drink and drive it? Seems pretty lame, at very least. But... to each their own.

Conclusion: Cab, designated driver(s), walk, skateboard, bike, A.A. or the last ditch effort... a gay-assed limo.

the first night i met danny, circa  late sept,1983, danny had just turned 21 and and came over to look at painting my oval rag, we agree on a price, and decide to tow it down to his house in STANTON at about 9:00pm with my dads new truck that i had crashed once before when it was ony a week old. anyways, peppermint schnapps was very popular at the gabbard house as were a few other party favors and we indulged pretty heavy that night and around 1:30 or so i decide its time to head home( i had to work the next morning). i hop in the truck and head north to la habra with one eye and the last thing i remember was driving by knotts berry farm and waking up the next morning wondering where the hell  i parked my dads truck. hopefully on the driveway because he didnt say a word to me about it. i know f#$%ing stupid, but i was 18 and bullet proof.

I can remember being at Danny's shop one night when Mason was drinking a twelve pack or three when he decides to stage a private burnout contest in his Volvo. After wearing the tires down for several minutes , the car hooked and lunged at the neighboring shop's front window, all the while the drivers door was open and Dave was half in the car. He stopped the car in the nick of time, pulls around and parks. He walks over and says, "Top that!"

WELL, were do I start, there's so few! One night I,m driving to La mirada to go to a party, back when you could almost drive around with a beer between your legs and drive, I wasn't the most descret about drinking. well so I,m driven along and all of a sudden the cop behind me throughs the lights and siren on, thinking OOO shit I dump the beer on the carpet, and roll the empty under the seat, like no one would ever look there, the fricken cop pass's me and pulls the quy in front of me over . ya I went home and changed my short's .  the good Ole day's . One more speaken of mason and the volvo, we use to hang at a buddy's shop on tuesday's for a little grilling and jack. well mason was going from shop to shop BSing we jacked the old volvo up till the wheels were just off the ground and took the jack handle off and rapped the jack with black plastic. it was at night in the dark and ya really could not see the jack, so later he hop's in the volvo with his date . well dumb ass starts to take off, and nothing, he get's out , he look's get's back in and again he try's to take off, well after a few more trie's he figure's it out, we all were thinking , must be the next sherlock holmes. Nothing get's past dave mason!!!

OK... New Year's Eve... I'm driving from one party to the next in my '67. I figure it's time to grab something to eat so I pop off the 5 at Brookhurst and I drive down to the In-n-Out. I drive through and grab my Double-Double, Fries and Dr. Pepper then I back into a parking space along Brookhurst. There's an Anaheim PD squad car in the Parking Lot. The patrolman comes out of In-n-Out walks over to his patrol car looks into his patrol car and walks back into the restaurant. In my inebriated state I thought to myself "That was odd." But the best is yet to come... He comes back out of the In-n-Out and walks back to the patrol car. Then I see he's using a coat hanger to breaking into his patrol car... he had locked the key's inside. Grin

The worst part is I was alone in my car so I had noone to confirm my story.

I never drink and drive so no stories about me, but I do have one from a former boss. His friend had been to a party and after drinking so much that driving seemed like a good idea, due to the fact that he couldn't stand, let alone walk, he set off to make his way home in his brand new Mk1 Escort (long time ago!). After a few miles the urge to dispose of some of the excess beer from out of his body came over him, but not wanting to puke in the interior of his new car, he tucked his shirt into his trousers and vomitted into his own shirt! The ingenuity of a drunk... Grin
