« on: November 16, 2006, 21:13:36 pm »

I have read the blue print stories and enjoyed the 5 speed buildup....even the rollbar and aluminum tin work got me exctied......But what is the current status?? Will it be yellow or will detailing take all time left in a busy mans world?? Dean give us some inspiring photos to drool over and a sneek preview over what to come!!! If it is close to the blue 67 I would adore it and if it beats the blue 67 of yeasterday....I am over the moon!!!

No Empi scoops, he is using carbon fiber "NACA" scoops.

Thanks for posting the photos!

I got a chance to talk with Dean this past Sunday at the Texas Classic show ... he's got a LOT of really cool ideas being implemented into this build. Hopefully he'll do a few more articles in HotVWs to detail them.

LOVE the color!

By the way Mr. Kirsten ... if you read this, thanks for taking the time to share your ideas!
Or is that, Mr. Rich Cranium? Grin

Keep up the good work,

I talked to deano a while back and the car is in excellent condition and has been stored for several years. Unfortunately rumors continue to run rampant about about its condition. It will not be brought out to any shows in the near future. While he does plan to bring it out in the future, it will be on a selective basis and without any notice. He thanks you for your interest in the Caltrans '67. Grin

Seriously though that car should be SWEET when done.

Wow, my own thread on this forum. How cool is that. Just to up-date you on what has happened, or hasn't happened over the past few months. As some of you know, we had two losses in our family last year which put my garage time on the back burner for nearly all 2008. Now with the new year, things are looking much brighter. We had to jump on an opportunity to purchase a large piece of land directly across from our present home, which we did and now own. It's large enough for a possible future car show, but that's another story. Anyway, with 2.5 acres of land, I needed something to take care of all this, so this week, we were in Texas purchasing a new toy.... 90 x 84, 22.5:1 compression, 8 speeds.

Along with the land deal, came a barn-find restored 1966 Mustang convertible, unknown to the former owner (!?). See, there are these seven wooden sheds on the land, and one of them had this lock.. Well.... I 'll tell this story some other time.

Now about the '67. I just sent the seat frames to Big Wig to have custom aluminum side panels made that attach with Dzus fasteners. New seats and door panels will be all leather. Hope to get back to assembly soon, without notice of course. Thanks for all the interest.

You putting ERCOs on the tractor?  Cheesy

Glad to hear your going to be able to make some progress on the '67. I think a lot of people are interested in seeing it when it is done.
